Trying to identify two 58mm SAKs
on: April 22, 2024, 02:22:33 AM
Hello All,

I've got two nice 58mm SAKs and am finding it challenging to narrow down model and age. The first looks like a MiniChamp but has some differences. The second is certainly an old one. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

The first one is the old model MiniChamp.  It was replaced in 1994 or thereabouts.  Some people call the old one the MiniChamp I or MiniChamp Mark I.  I have heard both.  Looks like a good clean one.
I will let someone else speak to the second.  Can't have all the fun.  Welcome to the site.  Nice photos.  Best wishes.  Gary (IMR)

The second knife is what is most commonly known as a Bijou, though it has had different names and numerical designations over the years.  It is identical to a Classic, but without the key ring.

Check out this thread:

Looks like this knife could be circa early 1950s.

Thank you for your help and the welcome  I love the Wiki! No doubt these two are in fine fine shape. SAKs are some of my favorite knives. When I was a teen, I had a 58mm on my key chain. I don't recall exactly which one but it sure was a trusty and useful knife.
