Now I wanna make a signal with scissors!
How much tinkering does it need?

Not much (but can be time comsuming); open up/regrind pivot hole, thicken scissors tang to the same width as blade ( I took a washer to which I ground out a "channel" in which to fit the scissors tang, and added two-part epoxy to glue, and to fill any void of the tang/washer combo); grind the blade lock once epoxy is fully cured, assemble and enjoy. Do test and measure continuously to make sure there's no play! Anything else, let me know. :tu:

Just wanted to give a heads up. The Aqua and Stainless Signal is on sale at a Recreational Equipment retailer for $104.93. I hope this can help someone out.

Brand new to MTO, and this seems like a great excuse to add another Leatherman to the collection. For, uh, science! >:D

Day 1

Today will be the first day I have ever carried or used a Signal  :o  I bought a few to collect, but the toolset doesn't suit my needs - I mean, it's really a specialized camping tool, and I haven't been out camping in a long time.  I do like it's form factor, so maybe I just need to make a few adjustments to the tools.  :tu:

Here's the Signal I decided to beat up this month.

First, I must apologize for my access to the Internet being very limited until at least Friday after work. Second, great kickoff photos! :like:

Day 1

I only own one Signal: this slightly customized (pink ferro rod and sharpener holders replaced with black) aqua unit. I thought y'awl might see it in action at work, but I was wrong. My job is kinda dirty, and I'm not sure what the policy on taking photos is.

I to will be observing.
Actually looking forward to following you AWL!

I was so tempted, almost ordered one, but kept arguing which color I wanted, had it to THREE.  And with next day delivery via the RIVER site, I survived and remained undecided.

Have fun, I will see if you convince me I need a SIGNAL!😉

Day 1

I'm in the same boat as Rich -- I've never carried a Signal, and the toolset doesn't really suit my daily needs since I'm not a backpacker or camper -- but I'll be curious to see how it goes over the next month.

This morning I put it to use fixing one of the immediate things that annoyed me about the new house: the owners installed a storm door with a pneumatic closing cylinder in the garage, making it absolute hell to carry anything inside with your hands full, since you have to negotiate two doors back to back that are both trying to close on you. A few screws later and that annoyance is fixed.

Great start everyone.  I hadn’t realized there was so many Signal color combinations.

No picture, but I got some more use of the Signal tonight putting together a piece of IKEA furniture. Turns out that hammer end is fantastic for pounding in those annoying wooden press-pegs.

Yes, the Signal is definitely a niche sort of a tool. I doubt I'll be doing any camping, but I look forward to testing out the Signal just the same.

Day 2

The can/bottle opener is one of those things I'm really looking forward to using.

Day 2

With the more limited toolset of the Signal, I decided to not carry my dedicated folder during the challenge. Part of the reason is due to the one hand opening of the outside blade. Second is to use the Signal as much as possible during the challenge. Third is to see how often I will need to touch up the blade. So far, I have used the blade to open mail and opening some packages in the kitchen. Today, I will be getting some packages in so there will be some cardboard to break down. I will try and get some action shots.

Good use.  The hammer end isn’t going to replace a regular hammer if that is what you need, but it does have its uses.  I’ve found the hammer works good with a fix blade for battening sticks
