What I have is probably too much and too broad a range of tools to be the basis for this sort of discussion.

If you’re looking for advice about where to start with MTs, then here is my suggestion:

Unless you anticipate a fairly frequent need for large pliers or wire cutters, Victorinox Swiss Army Knives are a great place to start.  Specifically, the 91 mm line offers a lot of options.  Many of these are quite reasonably priced, and YMMV but I find any of them that have four layers or less are convenient for pocket carry.

I have a contrary opinion to nate's.  I enjoy carrying the larger SAKs.  Because they are wider, I find they will sit nicely in a pocket with that flat surface area against my leg.  Of course, that is not sitting in the bottom of my pocket like a brick, but suspended vertically about halfway down in the pocket by a dangler attached to my belt loop.  I really hate the feel of a knife pressing against my leg, horizontally, in the bottom of my pocket.  By using a dangler, the weight is suspended from my hips, and I barely feel the knife in my pocket.  Also, I frequently carry a pliers-based tool as well as a SAK. On days when I only carry one or the other, I'm more inclined to grab a pliers-based tool, most often a Spirit.

I shall go forth and improve my life with a dangler!

I figured we should welcome anyone.  :D I was thinking we could convert a heathen scammer into a proper tool addicted citizen using nothing but this forums good vibes and enabling justifications.

Really replied to the dangler :) But thanks! :)

Here are some of my danglers on a Swiss Champ, CT-41, Champion and Explorer. Some people don't like danglers and even remove the rings from their SAKs, but I like them.  When attached to a belt loop the knives hang about halfway down in my pocket so the weight is on my hips, or at my waistline, and not at the bottom of my pocket.

Two-three pants I got have a pocket inside the main pocket (almost like a long key pocket) which achives a bit of the same for some tools. But work and outdoors pants doesn't always fit the occasion - and achieving the same with all the pants without such pockets would be nice too. So I should try dangling.  :tu:

I am not a fan of such things, at least for my primary knife.

It introduces extra steps/complications into the process of using the knife.

I carry a SAK for the tools and carry an additional fixie or folder for knife tasks.

I do that sometimes.

Other times, just a SAK or just a blade.

I pretty much always have my Rambler and Alox Bantam as backups, though.

I feel like we can all appreciate another chance to problem solve and discuss cool tools, regardless of what starts it!
