The voice behind Darth Vader, CNN, Mufasa from the Lion King and the King of Zamunda has passed away today at the age of 93.
Perhaps my favorite story about him was that he needed the money and took on the role of voicing the bad guy in this Uber low budget Sci Fi flick, but was embarrassed to let anyone know about it. That's why James Earl Jones wasn't credited on the first Star Wars movie- he asked them to leave his name off it because he didn't want to be associated with what everyone figured would be a flop!
Fast forward 40 years and he was so concerned that Dart Vader may be voiced by someone else in the future that he recorded many words and sounds so that he could be digitally reproduced to be the Dark Lord of the Sith forever!
RIP Mr. Jones. Say hi to Kenny Baker, Carrie Fisher, Sir Alex Guinness and Peter Mayhew for me.
