DAY 9:  I used to split my reading between fiction and nonfiction, but now I rarely read fiction.  History, especially local, is a favorite topic.  The thin book is poetry by a friend of a friend.

Day 8

I can never pick a favorite book. Even a top 5 feels like quite a challenge. But we're traveling, and I only have one book with me, so here it is. The novelization of Alien by Alan Dean Foster. He's probably the most famous for Splinter of the Mind's Eye, the first Star Wars novel not based on one of the movies. He's written about two dozen other movie adaptations, and is on the regular roster for spin off novels for several sci-fi franchises.

I actually haven't really started it yet, so I'll check back later.

Powernoodle Day 9

I used the NexTool to open a new phone holster.  This is my favorite flavor, which gets replaced one a year or so when it decrodes.

That's great PitCarver!
Bordering on top large for my keyring is my SOG PowerPint. This is one that I really like.

As for the mini challenge, today, I almost missed it.
When we were dating, way back in 79 or early 80, the Boss Lady bought me the 2 volume set of the Annotated Sherlock Holmes, at a local bookstore.
I always loved the Holmes stories.
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
I have kept a copy of the Complete Sherlock Holmes,  two versions of the Bible (King James and the ESV) and the Ashley Book Of Knots on my phone through the last 4 or 5 phones that I've had.

The biggest reason why I like having a pliers based mt in my hiking kit ☕☕
Day 8
Used the pliers in place of the pot gripper for my coffee today.

Mini Challenge
Not necessarily my favorite book, but high on the list

Great job, everyone, on the first mini challenge!  Books and reading are high up on my list of things I love to do.

Day 9

The file on the SHEFFIELD was adequate to debut the screen on a suet feeder.

Maybe a squirrel or raccoon broke a tooth trying to access the cake in the cage.

Actually it was strange I found the nick today, any other tool’s file would be to wide to properly do the task :tu:
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I had to recycle another pic today.  I'm outside of the fence running one of the Temu weed whackers. I'm finding these things almost as handy as a good multitool.
My PowerPint is dressed and ready to go.

Day 9

Here is a batch of tools from this mornings chore. I started with using the Dime to help me pull off the old stapes holding candle TV co-ax from the siding on the house. It worked pretty well and got most of them. The ones I struggled to get off were painted on and the Dime couldn’t get a good bite.  I switched to the small snap-on vacuum grip pliers I have had since 91. The cable cutters were for cutting off the cable terminations. I wasn’t even going to risk damaging the Dime. The screwdriver was for disconnecting grounds and removing splitters. My hands wet tired by that point so I didn’t use the Dime. I still need to remove some old telephone wires and then caulk the penetrations in the siding.

Day 9.5

Mail call. I will say the package opener is one of my favorite tools on the Dime. It has also worked well for scoring for cut lines when I forget my pencil.

Picked up a new Lionsteel Barlow with Rams Horn scales. They did a great job on this modern traditional. I liked it so much I just ordered the clip point and spear point version. In Rams Horn of course.

I found it at a pawn shop several years ago in SouthBend.
Paid $5

The quality is first rate.  The handle and built in backsprings match a MICRA.

The PIVOTS for the Plier head and spring me h looks identical to the MICRA’s scissors as well.

The only difference is on one handle on the MICRA it is cut down for the tweezers.

Makes me think that LM may have considered or did make the MICRA overseas in its early days.

The implements have no markings.

At least my MICRA does have USA marks and a date code stamped in the handles.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 8: Two Squirts are better than one, I suppose.

The EL was the original Leatherman I wanted as a kid, but couldn't afford $30-40 (or whatever they were on the tool pegs at my local Radio Shack for 15 years ago or so) they were back then. Years later, I got a used (but nice) one off eBay for $25 (new, insanely expensive!). It tends to provide strippers, cutters, screwdrivers and fine pliers/fuse pullers (as well as its tweezers) for fine jobs. Currently, it lives in the 3D printing toolkit tackle box.

I needed a stubby PH1, and I couldn't find my PB Swiss bit driver or my dedicated Master Mechanic USA PH1 Stubby. Thus, I brought out the Squirt's 3D PH1. Also, I pulled out a mis-placed set screw with the fuse puller.

Been having a pretty major issue with my 3D printer. It would jam up and shake/vibrate violently as the print bed reached the bottom limit of travel.

Removed the print bed (and the set screw for the back lead screw) and as I was setting it aside a chunk of old support fell out. I presume this piece fell off the print bed and lodged itself in there over time.

Also, I'm finally figuring out how to resize and attach photos in Linux. Turns out the pre-installed "Pix" app on Mint has many of the same options as MS Photos.

Day 8 - Book challenge - catch up

Another Sherlock Holmes fan here.  Wife bought me these several years ago.  I unfortunately don't make much time for reading anymore.  I have 3 - 4 books waiting to be read.

Day 10

I finally used the Swiss+Tech to tighten a loose doorknob screw.  The pole cutter did the job on some overgrown bush limbs.  I seem to remember using the tiny tool to take apart that same shrub cutter to sharpen the blade or something?  Maybe last year.  Needs sharpening again.
I mentioned before about the mysterious person named Ms. Phoenix who lives in the cottage past my mailbox.  If lives is the right word.  Little blue Toyota or something in the driveway.  No living person ever seen outside the house, and indeed no signs of life at all.  Never a visitor.  All that changed.  Last trip out, I saw the little blue car in its usual spot.  But, there was an identical model white car parked on the other side of the porch.  I am not exactly the world's foremost 'looks like a Toyota car identifier' in the world, but it seems to me there must be a link there somewhere.  Bright blue car on the left.  Seemingly identical, but white, car on the right?  I hope white car entity likes to do some yard work, since blue car never has touched a thing outdoors.  Still no mailbox for the house.
I'm not curious enough to go knock on the creaky old cottage door with a big grin and say, "Howzers.  I'm the feller what lives next door."  You know how every horror story in the world goes.  Young folks rent a cabin.  One nosy female decides to explore the basement.  Falls through the rotted wooden steps and yells.  Friends ask from above, "Kelly, are you okay?"  Aforementioned nosy female (Kelly) answers, "Yeah.  I just fell."  Then she lights a match.  Never a flashlight.  No flashlights in horror movies.  Anyway she lights a match and sees she has landed on a grinning corpse with a knife stuck through the skull.  Match burns out and high-pitched female type screeching begins.  Along with appropriate background music.
I think I used the last of the garlic that I had hanging outside my back door to make some spaghetti.  Might need to buy some extra garlic.  One or two of those big braided ropes of garlic like you see with the leaves all plaited together.  I like those.  Best wishes.  G
