Day 7

I like the Dime package opener a lot
It does work well
Sherry, I love Goya anything, especially the ginger beer 🍻
Never tried their ginger beer, which I do like, especially in a Dark and Stormy.
Their chocolate Marias are great dipped in coffee.
Day 7

And, the NEXTOOL lifter works very well!

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

As does the  Micro ClipTool

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

(Different bottle). Two bottles of Root Beer now chilling in the fridge.

I will also note that on the NEXTOOL, the can opener hook is blunt and too thick to fit under the cap to serve as a lift. !     Details mater?

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

The also, the Micro clipTool has no can opener!😜
I hate when tools are included but don’t function properly.  It is worse than not including them at all.

I think you miss understood my post.

The cap lifter is positioned on the same blade as the can opener.

The cap lifter worked perfectly.

The CAN OPENER LIP HOOK, is blunt and does NOT fit under the cap to be a lifter point.   That hook grabs the can lip just fine.

Day 6:

After coming home from Day 4 of helping a buddy with a retaining wall (tomorrow is back fill and beginning work on the steps), I opened up a Dell Latitude 5290 I got cheap from a company who specializes in selling surplus business/gov PCs.  It replaces a 2011-ish General Dynamics GD8200 that was ancient, got hot enough to cook on, and had a bad battery.

Decided I did NOT need a full rugged PC. This is just a simple (though pretty high end for 2019 specs) business 2-in-1 laptop/tablet (basically, a tablet with a thin detachable keyboard/trackpad). I think it's got a 9th gen i7 (plus 16GB RAM and a 250GB SSD), but it's apparently not compatible with Windows 11. Doesn't matter--Linux Mint was my original plan--which it runs now. Finally finished as I was wrapping up this post.

I also used a new addition from a quick run to O'Reilly for a new belt for the cement mixer--a little OEM Tools sheepsfoot friction folder with bit driver. Designed as a keychain knife, but it's going to be fifth-pocket use/around the house.

I'll probably have to use the Dell at least a couple of days as my regular due to the PSU failing on this PC, and me not being able to replace it until Saturday or Sunday.

Day 7

Went by Tractor Supply Store (dangerous place for me) to pickup some wall anchors and I saw this sitting in the bargain bin.  Wife liked the pink one, I liked the black one so I figured why not.  Using the little knife to cut it open for a test drive.  I'm hoping I won't regret it too badly.

I agree.  I'd scare most people with multiple pics of my days
I'm realizing that there was a reason that I don't normally do back-to-back challenges... I don't normally go out and photograph my life on à daily basis.  I know folks that have to take a dozen pics of what they had for supper to share with the world.
I'm just happy that I can recycle a pic from last months challenge.  Just one less thing to tax my brain for today.

Don't forget today is Mini Challenge Day 1!  :ahhh
Looking great everyone!  Okay, for the first mini challenge, scheduled for Friday.  Post a pic of your keychain tool and your favorite book.  It can be on any subject, as long as you post the picture with your current keychain challenger.

Day  8

I read scripture every day, but don't read a whole lot of secular literature any more.  I will show what I have been reading lately.  A short story collection.  I won't pretend that it is a favorite.  Some of the stories were predictable.  Others were offensive, and I stopped reading them.  I can read short stories without getting too bored.  Anything much longer and my mind will just drift away and I lose interest.
This is an e-book, I guess you call it.  Stephen King.  The title is also the best story.  So far, anyway.  I don't read short stories in order.  You can see the Swiss+Tech dangling in the shadows.  Best wishes, G

Powernoodle Day 8

The NexTool S11 Pro's cap lifter lifts caps.

I read scripture every day

If you are into it, maybe check out Kristyn Getty's audio bible.  Beautiful Northern Irish accent.  With a pair of Shokz bone-conducting headphones that don't cover the ears, you can listen throughout the day as you go about your MT activities.

Day 9 Mini Challenge #1

Although I don’t have a favorite book per se, I do seem to gravitate to certain genres of books. I like to read about the West either fiction or nonfiction. I really enjoy reading Larry McMurty’s books. I also enjoy reading spy novels like Le’carre and others.

And Mini Challenge

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Favorite books and most referenced! And, then I have a Kindle Reader on my Tablet.  ebooks  galore from the library via LIBBY and hoopla.  All free with the power of a LIBRARY CARD!

Today the SHEFFIELD has duty. And, the NEXTOOL  will be backup.

PS:  current read is by BRAD TAYLOR, his most recent INTO THE GRAY ZONE.  only about 30% deep.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

:like: :like: I journey between historical fiction and non fiction to mysteries, mainly.  I like John LeCarre, WEB Griffin, Martin Walker, etc.  Like Gordon, more and more of my books are on my Barnes and Noble Nook.  I like adjusting that font up a bit!

Bordering on top large for my keyring is my SOG PowerPint. This is one that I really like.

As for the mini challenge, today, I almost missed it.
When we were dating, way back in 79 or early 80, the Boss Lady bought me the 2 volume set of the Annotated Sherlock Holmes, at a local bookstore.
I always loved the Holmes stories.
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
I have kept a copy of the Complete Sherlock Holmes,  two versions of the Bible (King James and the ESV) and the Ashley Book Of Knots on my phone through the last 4 or 5 phones that I've had.
Addicted to sharp pointy things.

Another Holmes fan.  I might get to see a SOG one of these days.  So far, I haven't used the little Swiss+Tech for a thing.  Every time I have needed a blade for something, I either used a kitchen knife or a Bijou that lives on my compooter table.
Best wishes.  G

Day 7: IT day around here.

I recently purchased a Dell Latitude 5290 secondhand  through a surplus retailer since I needed a new laptop (have for 5+ years), and felt buying a rugged one again was overkill. It's basically a tablet on a laptop motherboard with a detachable keyboard.  I got it yesterday, and I was exhausted. Thus, I goofed configuring the boot settings, as I forgot to enable UEFI. Thus, Linux Mint didn't work. Re-enabled that in the BIOS, and now it works great.  It's got an 8th gen i7, 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. A little dated, but perfect for light-duty.  Amazon sent me someone's dirty, broken Dell charger in place of the generic one I ordered--thus, looks like my 40W Nintendo Switch charger is gonna have to do until I go back to Walmart next week. I"m getting a refund for the Amazon order.  The battery is at 30% of original capacity,  so it too should probably be replaced soon. y

Desktop had to get a new PSU. It's less than a year old, but was the Sam's Club floor model from Dec. to April. Thus, it was on the whole time.   Replaced it with the same, fairly cheap Thermal Take 600W.  I'm relatively new to fixing my own PCs, b helput the large case definitely helped a ton.

Gonna have to get used to uploading and resizing photos on Linux Mint... Ended up having to throw it in Draw. Luckily, I ditched Microsoft 365/Office or LibreOffice ages ago.

Day 9

First there was the Do-It-Yourself SwissChamp.  Then came the Home Hobo Knife, the No-P-Nel, the Ersatz LeatherLeap, and finally the IMR Pocket Plier.  I almost used the last one for this challenge.
Now there is the IMR Swiss+Tech Blade Buddy.  Might have to work on the name a little.  One of the biggest shortcomings of the Swiss+Tech is the lack of the blade.  Sure some of the models have a bitsy blade, but nothing like this.
The blade is stainless steel and quite sharp.  There is a keyring sized hole already.  Plans are being drawn up for more user friendly gripping.  Probably involving wrapping some black tape around the handle.  Making it pocket friendly was a consideration.  The red key fob itself provided the answer.  One way would be to simply duct tape the blade to the fob.  No exposed edges and the duct tape is useful in a pinch as well.  A simple sheath made from scrap cardboard and some staples is also under consideration.
Best wishes.  G
