So here is the latest addition for Sodbuster Sunday.

Wanted one of these for a long time, mostly because I love the yellow one so much but just fancied something a little bit posher than the yellow delrin. Took a while to pull the trigger because Case knives are relatively expensive over here, but finally ordered it last week.

The bone scales are nice, though quite a bit thinner than the delrin ones. Not sure if that will prove an issue in use or not. The thing I am most disappointed about though is the blade. I hadn't realised that Case had changed the blade steel on their carbon steel models from CV to CS. Again, only time will tell if this will be an issue, but given it was the blade I was ordering for I'm a bit sad that it's not the same. :(

Congratulations TOF!  :tu:

From what I have read, people report that they have seen little to no difference between CV and CS. Hopefully you will be happy with the CS blade.

Happy Sodbuster Sunday!

Here is my newest soddie:

The Rosecraft sodbuster had been calling to me, and after seeing some good reviews at AAPK and BladeForums I pulled the trigger. Yellow sandlewood covers and D2 blade. The pull is a touch weak for my taste, but overall I like it  :tu:

I wish Case would have seen fit to use birdseye rivets, but it sure is nice to see a Micarta Sod Buster. Great choices for today, y'awl! :like:

I am not sue why BIRDSEYE RIVETS, are only seen on CASE synthetic modells.  It is possible, to make the larger hole in bone or other materials may result in cracking or splitting of the materials during assembly or after use over time?

I have wondered myself, and came to this explanation after experiencing issues when modding changes to equipping have worked.  Wood always required washers front and backside of a piece to stabilize the material.  Also, possible the material may need a larger countersunk hole, which requires a thicker cover material.

I think you're on to something there. It's also possible that the jigging doesn't lend itself to countersinking. But Case sure does a fine job with their jigging, as your 6137 amply demonstrates! :like:

Thank you!  Know very little about the handles on the Stockman.    It is an older version, and just a nice gentle jigging with green hues.
