58mm Spydernox w/ Micarta Scales & G10 Liners
on: April 06, 2025, 12:25:35 PM
Need to catch up on posting my builds for you guys.  Built this one a few months back.  58mm Spydernox build with Micarta Scales and Red G10 Liners.  Tools include the Ladybug blade, File w/ SD tip, Cuticle Pusher sharpened to a round Chisel Point, and Scissor.  All the tools were acid etched and brass washed.  Enjoy the pics!

Very good combination of colors and texture.  The red liners just make the build.  There used to be a member on here who made his own micarta.  It has been a while since I have seen it.  Best wishes.  G

Very cool!  I like the pop of red against the micarta.

Thanks fellas, and I agree, those red liners were perfect for those scales

I like it, too. What type of Micarta was used?

The maker said they were canvas micarta.

:like: Was it polished, or did they leave it rough? The Micarta on my ESEE Izula II are pretty rough. That gives me a good grip on it.

He sent them to me unfinished.  I used sand paper and worked my way down to I think 1000 grit and then finished them bees wax.  The scales were very smooth when finished, but had a sort of matte finish.

I probably would have just made sure they fit well and called it good. But I can't deny that your polish job looks damn good, too! :salute:
