Engraving your name on your Multi-tools

Up until recently I have always engraved my last name on my Multi-tools in several conspicuous places so that if they got lost at and an honest person found them at they would know who to give it back to.

I have lost several Multis over the years and I can't honestly say it's helped me out, because I've never recovered them.

When selling or trading Multi-tools nobody wants your name on them so that's why I've stopped engraving them, but I'm looking for another way to get my name on them that's not so permanent.  I have two tendencies that make me fairly likely to lose Multis.  I use my Multi (new wave) so often in my business (medical electronics) that I am pretty likely to leave it around somewhere.  I also tend to loan out my Multi to anyone that wants to borrow it.  One guy in particular, borrows it and leaves it laying around until I come find it.

So any ideas?  I'm thinking some sort of sticker, maybe a metallic one, but I'd like to hear if anyone has a better idea.  I do actually have the ability to laser engrave the tool but I'd have the same problems as engraving tools.

What if you rivet a dogtag(with your name, address,etc.) to the lanyard ring?

Basically you buy a certain number f stickers, stick them to the item you want back a if anyone finds it, they just drop it in a mailbox and it finds it's way home.
