So I've been using my Cybertool M for a few weeks around the house, loving it so far. But I have no real need for a knife (if the scissors won't do it then I'll probably use either my big shears for power or a scalpel for accuracy) and it makes it, um, awkward to carry in the UK. The bit driver, scissors, pliers and scale tools are all vital IMHO, but I'm not sure about the openers and other things. So I've drilled out the rivets and stripped it down. Now to put it back together...
Option 1: just delete the blade/corkscrew layer. Reduces bulk but I lose the tiny screwdriver and I'll need new scales without a cut-out.
Option 2: delete the blade and opener layers. Least bulky option, but the bottle opener/prybar/screwdriver is handy.
Option 3: move openers to the blade layer. Keeps the corkscrew and standard scales, but a bit more work with the files. I might also sharpen the can opener into a box cutter.
Option 4: put the bottle opener on the blade layer and add something else alongside - what other tools could fit in that slot? A file/metal saw would be handy (happy to shorten it down if needed). Does the small file from a Sportsman play nicely with the 91mm bottle opener and blade spring? Or I could get a Compact and use the combo tool instead of the standard bottle opener. Anyone ever tried cutting a large blade down to make a fork, like on the 111mm Cheese Master?
I'm also planning to put a 58mm nail file on the back, hopefully in place of the hook but maybe the awl (which negates the file from option 4 above).
