Day 4

Opened some new flush cutters.

Opened another... "tool".   :D

I'm really liking this small fixie.  Don't like the clip for two reasons though.

1. It's in the wrong position.  Just ordered some new rivets so I should be fixing that shortly.

2. Don't like that it's not tight enough.  This one wouldn't bother me as much if the clip was in the up and down position.

We'll see how I feel about it once I reposition the clip.
May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Day 05
Myerchin 2nd generation B100 Pro-Marine offshore rigging knife with coffee.  These newer models are a bit beefier than the previous models which means they are slightly heavier, and they come with leather sheaths instead of the last generation's nylon sheath.  Leather really doesn't make a lot of sense for something that is intended to be used in a salty environment.  I've had to clean off some surface rust with Flitz metal polish.  This one is my last Myerchin fixed blade rigging knife, for now.  So tomorrow we're back to our regularly scheduled fixies.  :cheers:

Agree on the leather sheath not making sense.  I would think a kydex or plastic sheath would make more sense.

I don't know how this Korean BBQ place expects me to eat a piece of steak like this without a knife.
Maybe they consider it finger food? :dunno:

I forgot to add this pic of the warning label on the box, which made me chuckle.  I’d put it right up there with “WARNING:  COFFEE IS HOT”
Don't forget "CONTAINS: PEANUTS" on a jar of peanut butter.

Canadian Belt Knife plus Traveller.
I had to look that one up. Before I saw the photo, I thought it would contain a Wenger.

Opened some new flush cutters.
I call those "sprue nippers," as I used them to remove plastic model kit parts from their sprues. That's a good case of a knife not being the best tool for the job; I have a scar on my thumb as a result of a hobby knife slipping during that process. Those days are long over, though. Model kits and related consumbales have gotten hideously expensive.

Day 5

I decided to see how the Civet handled lunch.

  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

It handled the franks pretty well and didn't do half-bad on the buns. Reminds me that I should put my Opinel No. 12 back on kitchen duty.

  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Two things are perhaps worth noting here. This will be an at-home challenge for me, as state law (in my opinion, anyway) makes public carry of a fixed blade more hassle than it's worth. And I'll request the badge in a future challenge. It slipped my mind that I'd signed up for both this challenge and the Spartan challenge, and I also doubled up on challenges last time I did the Spartan challenge.

Day 5

Used the fixie to clean up some holes on this tupperware.  I'm using it to weatherproof some of the Halloween inflatable connections.

@Sos24: I bet you made Fisher's day!

@BPRoberts: looks like that could be a handy small fixie. I don't imagine it's much bigger than the Civet.

@Fireman: new sharp?

Day 6

One Civet feature I really appreciate is two sections of jimping.

  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

In this photo, you should be able to make out the scar I mentioned yesterday.

  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

However, the Civet does have a downside. Unless you have small hands, you may not get a three-finger grip on it. I struggle for two-and-a-half, and my hands aren't even that big. The lanyard on mine is a very desirable addition.

I’m feeling like I should switch to another small fixie, but the G-Necker is working out so well that I’m a little hesitant to make a change…

I always feel like Dick Tracy when I talk with someone on my Apple watch.  Also brings back fond memories of reading the “funny papers” at my grandparents’ house as a kid.

I wonder what percentage of current smart watch users have any idea who Dick Tracy is.
 :think:

I do!    My watch is paired with my phone.  Some have Apple watched with own phone number.

Dick Tracy, Steve Canyon, BC awl great reading, during the week too!   Sunday colors were the best, reread them several times. And, again when took to burning barrel, start the fire and read them again!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 06

Laugh all you want, but it cuts and holds an edge.  My most used fixed blade knife is this $5.00 Ozark Trail knife from Wal-Mart. It lives on my dining room table, and I use it every day to cut the cat's pills in half as well as to open other medications and occasional letters or packages.  Admittedly, I never carry it because it comes with a high-rise scabbard, but it is handle-heavy, so it wants to flip over the belt if I try to carry it.  If it came with a blade up oriented neck sheath that I could trust it not to fall out of this little knife might be a good carry.

Not too much use today. Drove six hours and worked on hydraulic hoses on a Kubota tractor.

Opened the mail with the Esse Izula 2.

@FarmerX - I ended up attaching a lanyard to mine for the same reason.

@Alan K. - Nothing wrong with it if it works.  :tu:

@SOS24 - I haven't seen candy smokes in forever.

DAY 5

As neck knives go, for me the GSO 2.7 was a real winner...for me this was a new to me knife and well used when I got it.

I did go do the route of enquiring and was about to order....this was before survive knives showed their true colours.... however the sales push on the purchase of the GSO 4 (would have been the CPM S60 version), was well too pushy...and red flags were there....

Anyway I have a GSO and I like it....
