As I was headed to the grocery store today I witnessed a terrible accident.

Fast forward to 1:50 ish for the incident.

Fortunately, the cyclist didn't appear to be too seriously hurt, and I was able to help him out by taking his bike to the shop for him and take him to the hospital.  He refused an ambulance, not wanting to abandon his bike- as it was an e-bike I am sure it represented a significant investment.

After initial checks to make sure he wasn't suffering from any head or other major injuries I was able to load his bike into the back of my Maverick and took him to the bike shop for repairs.  Once he was in my car I started pushing him to go to the hospital and he was interested, but only if we could drop off his bike first.

Naturally he wouldn't want someone taking off with his bike, and since he didn't appear to have anything obvious more than a few scrapes, I decided to risk it.  I kept him talking the whole time to see if there was any delayed effects, and when I finally got him to the hospital I walked him right into the emergency room to make sure he didn't fall down somewhere.

Hopefully he will be as okay as he seemed to be, but at least I can be assured that I did everything I could to help him.

Be careful out there.  It's humbling to realize just how easily something bad can happen to you on a bike, regardless of who is right and who is wrong.

For the same reason that pedestrians are not allowed to walk in the roadway, I think that cyclists should not be allowed on public streets.
