I needed to put up a new mailbox and Megan bought a traditional type that goes on a post.
So I started digging for the post, and that was a colossal pain in the hindquarters because my yard is full of rocks. I eventually managed to dig enough of a hole that the post would sit at the right height.
I had bought expanding foam to use instead of concrete, but it was a one shot deal- it came in two bags, and you break the seal between the bags, shake and pour. It's a set amount and that's it- there's no half batch or anything.
I figured there would be way too much foam and I wasn't sure what the heck I was going to do with the rest, but I broke the seal, shook and started pouring.
The stuff goes in and looks like water but with an amber color to it, and within seconds it starts to expand. I wasn't sure when or where it was going to stop, and I figured I'd have to try and cut out the excess when it solidified.
To my surprise, the foam stopped expanding just below the surface of the hole, which is absolutely perfect as it means I can fill it back up with dirt and plant grass around it!
It's a little thing, but I was unnaturally happy about how perfect it turned out!
