I love the look of the scales!
Day 17

The Silver Tech is one of my favorite SPARTANS.

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

The scales are just a great alternative to the standard RED.   So much so, I could not resist a CLIMBER and then last night a EXPLORER.

YET, as pictured two of my alternative  SPARTANS IN 85 and 84 mm size.

In the tween challenge I really grew fond of the EVO 10 and then during the MacGyver challenge I was pointed to a SPORTSMAN model.   Both sport fingernail files in place of the pen blade, yet tick every other box for me. Scale tools, AWL & CorkScrew.

Also, in same challenges respectfully, I purchased a EVO 14 for the scissors (Wenger style) and a TOURIST which almost SPARTAN’s little bother, minus a keyring and scale tools.

What good a challenge if you do not learn something new, about your tools or even your preference!

A group photo for day 17. According to my spreadsheet I have twice as many as seen here, but I'll be darned if I can find them. They're in a box or drawer somewhere I suppose.

Thanks! I love them all. There's something about that STORZ logo that I really like. I don't know anything about the company but it's cool looking advertising.

Day 17

Much to my surprise, I found a slotted screw that wasn't holding an outlet or switch cover in place. And the Spartan's cap lifter screwdriver fit perfectly. :woohoo:

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Kind of a slipshod job, methinks. I initially thought there was a drawer in that spot. Yet I just looked in the cupboard, and if there was a drawer above it, someone went to great pains to hide the holes for tracks and such things. I may never know the whole story behind how those screws came to be there.

Day 18 + coffee cup mini challenge

I am an espresso man.

S101 opened new bags of beans and then posed with my favourite cup.

Day 18: Looking good!! ☕☕

My cup is a gift I got awhile back from Mrs R from the Smithsonian gift shop.  As I noticed in this pic, it's beginning to show some mileage.

Day 18 mini challenge

An elephant and a jewel of a Spartan.

My best friend's brother is an amazing potter; he even has some pieces in the Smithsonian. In addition to all the other lovely work he does he has made these elephant mugs for many years. Funny thing, I didn't get it from him or my friend. It was given to me by a former coworker who happened to be a fan of his pottery. It's been my favorite ever since.

Some great coffee cups on show today, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 18

Here's the Spartan with one of the two coffee cups I use regularly.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

And I am putting forth a mini-challenge for Day 25: since winter is creeping up on most of us (I think Yanossauro's winter might be on the verge of winter ending), show your Spartan with some cold-weather gear. This can be a jacket, winter gloves, a snow shovel...anything you primarily use during the winter months.

I used the small blade to shave off material in a hole in a piece of plywood to allow a bearing to fit. This is a restating of the event with my strop representing the plywood.

Good idea for the cold weather gear mini-challenge. Depending on where you are in the world I'm sure there's a lot of us either getting it out or putting it away.

Day 18:

No Spartan use today because I went to the 2025 Wings over Houston Airshow, and they decided to install metal detectors at the entrance to enforce the TSA regulations at Ellington Field. I anticipated this and took a ratty old Climber that I didn’t mind losing (and did lose to the trash can in the security line), and a Jetsetter which became my only tool.

The USAF Thunderbirds weren’t there because of the government shutdown, but both of two flying B-29 Superforts (Fifi and Doc) were there, plus plenty of other warbirds and vintage aircraft. The Tora Tora Tora reenactment of the Pearl Harbor attack was exciting as always.

Spartan in the middle with his smaller (evowood 10 and tourist) and larger (picknicker and RangerGrip 68)  Spartan like  brothers.
I did not notice before that the ranger has the can and bottle opener on opposite sides vs the rest.
