58mm Vic sawblade mod, advice needed
on: August 16, 2025, 02:39:52 PM
I've seen a few of these where the ruler has been modded into a woodsaw blade. Is anyone able to describe how the offset teeth are created?

Hi there,
How are the laws in UK on carrying a folding saw?  If you really intend to use a saw (and it's legal to carry), I would say forget anything on a 58mm platform.  It would wear you out trying to saw anything with only about an inch of saw surface to work with.  Even then, you could break any branch with your hands that would be fodder for such a saw.
A good folding saw with 7- or 8-inch blade doesn't cost much.  Something like Fiskars folding pruners will cut something maybe an inch thick in an instant.  A 58mm saw would be cute, but not so useful.  I saw your earlier request for the little Derma-Safe folders.  Maybe you can find one of those.  Best wishes.  G

Thanks but not really what I asked

I have various SAK's with saws I can carry here fine

I'd just like to try to put something together for woodcarving and zI like the 58mm's other tools, the dermasafe isn't great on wood

Have to scroll down some in my first post, but I show how I create a saw from the ruler in a 58mm.

Hi, brand new to this forum. I joined specifically to track down the 58mm saw blade that I had seen a while ago. Glad the question was asked and answered. Just a quick, further question. Did you just SWAG the angle of each of the teeth or did you use some sort of angle jig?
