It's not always about TSA.
Some work environments ban blade carrying, but still a sensible guy wants to have a few tools with him. A friend of mine works at a factory that would just fire anyone found with a blade on himself, and so reverted to the Jetsetter@Work.
Fortunately, that’s foreign to my experience.

The places I go seem to fall into one of three categories:

1. No Restrictions - Carry whatever you want.

2. Discretion Required - May have blade length limits or similar arbitrary restrictions.  May have a no “weapons” policy, but this is often vague/not defined and moreover not enforced by security checkpoints with metal detectors.  YMMV, and l certainly don’t want to encourage anyone to put themselves in legal (or financial) jeopardy, but my experience has been that a 93mm or smaller SAK (or similarly sized trad) carried concealed in a pocket isn’t a problem (assuming one isn’t acting like a smurfhat of course).

3. Knives Banned - No “weapons” policy specifically or de facto includes knives/pocket knives, and this is enforced via security checkpoints with metal detectors.  Not limited to airports.

So for me, a bladeless model offers no benefit in categories 1 & 2, and only has value if it is consistently allowed through the checkpoints in category 3.

I don't think there's any reason to switch off of an existing 3-4 layer SAK for the Companion set for general EDC. The package opener does open packages very well, but the can opener is more versatile. The file for blade swap is a little better,  but then I'd rather just carry a Wenger and keep the CO, the semi-locking flathead, etc.

Yep - Good points BPR

However for me the file replacing the small blade is quite a big deal and definitely worth it
Yep loosing the CO would be a loss - But TBH - I rarely use it, and you still get the small driver on the BO
And I think I would go for this model, just for the novelty of a new toy/tool to EDC  !!    :o   ;)   :D

But a Wenger is a good suggestion - And I like the Wenger CO as the CO 'blade' (funnily enough :o)  is a very good package opener - and also a good scraping tool - Sometimes I prefer it to the Vic CO!!

In all the new models are going to well received in a smaller circle, office friendly type environment. Had the sudden reality check of using a nitize doohickey thats quite handy and inexpensive.
