Is anyone still talking about SAK 1.6795.XAVT?  I'm about to purchase one but don't want to be all alone!  Tks!

Certainly, it remains a great conversation starter and you would be hard pressed to find anyone on this forum who doesn't like it. In addition, it's of historic importance: SAKs are unlikely to ever again get as digital as they were in the AVT era. If you can get a XAVT at a decent price, I am sure you won't regret it.

Cheers,

Simon

I ordered an XXL and that finally arrived today.
It sure is interesting to look how it all fits together and what tools they combined on the different layers.
I thought these were being shipped in the grey box now but this one still arrived in the case direct from Victorinox.
It’s cool to get the extra not so common Allen key CyberTool bits finally too.

We’ve all seen it before but here it is anyway.

OK & howdy all. Long time user of SAKs. But I just bought the XAVT, of all places, ebay! I had to get mine in a few pieces as it were. No case came with it, I found that on amazon. I had to order the bits separately. I had to of course get new batteries for it. OBTW would any of the other owners out there be able to email me a copy of the manual for this? Victorinox's website doesn't have it. I bought mine for my bug-out bag, I intend to use it.

Welcome PWBII - And congrats on getting an XAVT - Brilliant
The XXL just does not have the same appeal.

I am not sure there was a user guide for the XAVT explicitly
- But the user guide for the electronic functions is on the Traveller Wiki page - Here:
https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Traveller

You can also try the instructions leaflets folder in the Wiki:
https://sakwiki.com/tiki-browse_gallery.php?galleryId=211

Is there a formal way to join the XAVT group?  I bought mine new for $200 Canadian a couple of weeks ago. Thought that was a good deal. The key shop I bought it at had ordered it in for someone who then returned it and it’s been sitting there for many years. Owner and I bartered and he went for $200! It had been priced at $550. The LCD display wouldn’t work so I sent it off to the Victorinox service shop on the west coast of BC and they replaced it for free…at least I haven’t gotten a bill yet.

Wow - That was an absolute bargain - They would cost $4-500 dollars usually - And probably even more now they are n/a.
And you are v lucky to get the XAVT - The XXLT just doe not do it for me   :pok:    :dunno:

And also v lucky to get the electronic scales replaced, given that they are no longer available
Also I think the electronic components do not have the lifetime warranty - Just two years - IIRC - So even luckier

Welcome to the club and to the Swiss Army Knights and to MTo

Thank you for the welcome! I have loved Swiss Army knives ever since I was a toddler. My father had a Swiss champ that he bought when we were stationed at a Canadian Air Force base in France back in 1958 to 1962. I was always fascinated by it and enjoy multitools and SAK’s to this day.  :woohoo: The engineering is amazing.

P.S. a charge of $55 Canadian showed up on my Mastercard from Victorinox repair services for the new LCD display unit in the handle. A very good deal to have my XAVT back to brand new working condition.

Okay then XAVT members, who can definitively tell me what “XAVT” stands for in Victorinox speak? I have searched extensively and do not believe it means eXcessive Amount of Victorinox Tools!  :ahhh

Evidently Victorinox sees the XAVT as an extra large Traveller.  The Traveller is listed as 1.3705.AVT model.  I will leave a key for the after number abbreviations.  The translucent Traveller type scales could be the post letter T.  Best wishes.  G

Nice one IMR
Yep the A is deffo barometric  electronic stuff
V is chronological functions
The T is deffo translucent - And no other number - As it is the base colour ie red
- We do have that one in the Wiki (colours page)
X I guess means extra large, in common w clothing  etc -  And other large VIC models

So there we have it!!  :salute: :tu: :D

I honestly didn't know the letters actually stood for anything!  The car manufacturers here put letters on their car names, 99% of which means nothing.  Thanks Huntsman!

And just to compete the picture 1.6795 is the model number for the SwissChamp

As in 1.6795.XAVT

PS. One thing on my do-list for the Wiki is a page explaining Vic Model numbers.
There awlready is a template/draft, and a reference to it on another page - So I had better get on with it!!
