Smutty sexualised innuendo ??
on: October 08, 2025, 11:16:36 PM
Not sure how to approach this….?
Or even if it’s worth trying to raise a discussion

I work for a small engineering firm and have done for the last 10+yrs
It’s close to home, so I walk every day

5yrs ago a fabricator took (didn’t apply) a team leader role.

During the last 5yrs we’ve all agreed hes as thick as mince!!!
Every single conversation - without exception - is somehow a cue for him to talk about himself.. Christ it’s boring!!

He also constantly gives innuendo’s
Personally I’m repulsed by the man, he’s almost my age (mid 50’s) and barely a day goes by without me or one of the lads commenting about this Team Leaders actions

None of us want to report him to HR - who wants to be that snitch?? But by god we are all sick to the back teeth of the guys never ending bulling himself up to be the alpha male and his sexist innuendos.

Absolutely vile!!

Just curious if anyone else has to work alongside such dim creeps??

I’ve put in a request to be transferred to another section , I can’t take much more!!
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Didn’t Dolly Parton put rat poison in the coffee for this same reason?! but seriously not a happy work environment for you and the others I personally would get as many together and report this to HR which I have done in past jobs and things got better and I learned a few things about co-workers good and bad. Good Luck and keep us posted  :salute:

I get the whole “no one wants to be a snitch and report him” bit.  But if no one either reports it or calls him on it directly, experience suggests this behavior is likely to continue.

I’m not sure if your small firm will have this, but FWIW most larger companies have a mechanism to report concerns anonymously.

If you do end up reporting it (anonymously or not), my recommendation would be to focus on specific instances of his comments crossing the line from merely annoying to clearly inappropriate for a professional environment.

I agree, if no one says anything, nothing will change for anyone.  Is it possible to make the complaint anonymously?

I'm a believer in solving things at the lowest level possible. Were I in that position, I'd tell the guy to knock it off and warn him that continued transgressions would result in higher powers getting involved.

:iagree:

Maybe even getting together a group of people who work with him and feel the same and have a intervention-like talk. "We don't like that, don't feel confortable, please stop. You can do it on your own time, not on company time. Be professional. Thank you."

If this doesn't work, the same group could/should report the issue to HR.

Best of luck with this.
