Do we have enough for a Sideclip challenge?
on: November 24, 2025, 04:40:44 PM
As a pocket-carry guy, I think it's a crime that we don't have a Sideclip challenge.  Not only was it Leatherman's first tool to feature a side-mounted clip, it's very thin - thinner than a Skeletool and a 3-layer SAK - so it's very pocket friendly.  We need 10 to make it official.  If you have one and are interested in scheduling a challenge some time in 2026, please sign up  :tu:

The challenges is still a mystery to me. What do you have to do? Take a picture of it every day, smash it against a wall, open a beer with it, or what?
Thanks in advance for a brief explanation or a link to the challenges rules.

ps And so, the sideclip has been living in my backpack for a long time and feels great

Click you own name below your avatar.  Madfishcat>Awards>Show available awards.  Rules vary for each award.  Maybe you would like to look at some of the challenges that are underway now or finished.  Then you can get a better idea of how they work.
If you successfully complete a challenge, you may apply for a badge.  Best wishes.  Gary

There's a descriptive post somewhere, but here is a summary:

For the month of the challenge, you just need to carry it and post a picture of it every day.  The picture can be just a nice picture or an action shot of you using it.  You can also include a message about your experience and/or thoughts about the picture or your experience with it.  With your last picture, most people leave a message about their thoughts on the tool.

If I can find a half-dead tool that needs to be restored, I'm in. I don't really have much work for a multi-tool, restoration takes a week at best, and then only in the evenings. Anyway, I can't promise anything; such models are very rare.

I'd like to be part of such a challenge
BTW, I'am still looking for a decently priced Sideclip to mod. The prices are crazy here in Europe…

Have Sideclip, have interest in the challenge, but not in a hurry. After two challenges back to back through January and February I will probably be good for a while ..and pretty desperate to go back to my regular EDC.
