Looking for a small multitool like the SOG AEGIS MT but with LOCKING BLADE

I only need pliers and locking blade, to pair it with a small SAK in my keychain (rambler, manager...?)

SOG Aegis MT is perfect (68 g of weight and +- 8 cm length closed)  but has not a locking blade (sleepjoint)

I need something lighter than 100 g (Skeletool and Freestyle discarded)

Could it be possible to mod the SOG Aegis MT into a locking blade (linerlock, for example)

Thanks

Modifying a knife blade to lock that wasn’t originally set up to do so is no easy task.

I’m curious why you want a locking blade.  In my experience, having a locking blade can be convenient (especially if it is paired with OHO capability), but I don’t consider it a critical attribute in a pocket knife/MT.

I don’t own a SOG Aegis, but the reviews I’ve read don’t inspire much confidence.

If I’m understanding correctly, you want pliers and a locking blade, and you want to keep the total weight under 100 g.  So, my suggestion is to get the following:

Knipex Cobra XS - I don’t own this size, but own some larger sizes, and they are quality tools.  Knipex lists them at 62 g.

Then add a locking knife that weighs less than 38 g.  Christy Companion, Spyderco Ladybug, Case Caliber, Opinel No. 6, etc.

You could do worse than the Nextool Mini Flagship F12.  There's a useful rundown by Sos24 here:

https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,94595.0.html

It weights 80g but has several useful tools in addition to pliers and a locking blade, notably you get a decent pair of scissors, a 2D Phillips and a file.

If you do want to get one make sure not to buy the older version of the tool, as the blade does not lock on that.

I have got these and they are excellent for what they are. Like most of the small Knipex pliers, they can do more than they look like they could given the size. Basically they look like a toy, but they aren't.

The proviso is that it depends what the OP wants to use his pliers for - if he needs a needle nose, or wire cutting function, the Cobra XS won't fit the bill.

I need a compact multitool to EDC in my pocket or belt in an office environment (little pliers with needle nose and wire cutting function + locking blade)

Knipex pliers are out of game
But thank you

The SOG Reactor (114 g) has locking blade but is assisted.
Is it possible to deactivate an assisted locking blade to locking blade only?

Thank you

I would say the short answer is maybe, depending on how it is designed and assembled.  Also note the SOG Reactor appears to be discontinued.

I thought FB’s suggestion of the new version of the Nextool F12 was a good one.

Another option is to go ahead and get the SOG Aegis if it’s what you want, and then add a lightweight stand alone locking knife.
