Sooo, does it seem yet that the bulk of the classic use is opening things?

Pacakges, oranges, mail?

This thought got me thinking! Ouch🤔

The CLASSIC has been around a long, long time.  The soldier pattern even longer.

Cutting, opening, and cutting items. See the pattern!

Yet, there has to have been a person who’s the brain trust to creating the CLASSIC.

The concept had to be pitched to a panel or board that decides items to be produced, these things just do not happen spontaneously!!!

I am curious, what was the vote tally? How close was the count, yay or nay?

Looking back, it had to have been close, if only the old fogies, were in the room, who only thought a practical knife was a traditionally sized folder.

I can hear the pitch now,
A Small compact knife, to open packages, a nail file to smooth rough nail edges, and a scissors to trim an occasional stray thread.  This will be small and light enough for a WOMENS PURSE, or be carried in a gentleman’s trouser pocket, or even a vest watch pocket!!!

It then grew to do so many more things, became the must have TRAVEL GADGET, sold in airports around the globe. Marketing executives seeing the potential as a pocket size billboard. A giveaway that will not be thrown away, etc.

But, then again how close was it from never having been made so the masses would have the chance to own.

Just a thought😏
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

:iagree:  Think of the world without the Classic.  How many gift days, ads, keychains.  Vic found the perfect way to market pocket knives to non knife people!

Day 9: No sharper blade! These knives are cutters!

Carl, I've found that most of my EDC needs are cutting something open.  The Classic gets it done!

We get those same sardines at our local grocery. They are the best canned sardines I've ever had. But fresh and grilled on the Weber is still the best.

 :tu:

They are Moroccan I believe.  Moroccan waters are where the tastiest sardines go to live and die.

I just had a can for breakfast.  Drain the oil, salt it heavily and eat it right out the can.  High in protein, fat, omega 3's, and they provide all nine essential amino acids.  No carbs, so no blood sugar spike followed by a crash and more hunger.  If one is a fancy pants, he can hit it with a squeeze of lemon and sriracha.  Or a myriad of other yummy stuff.

 :woohoo:

Now I'm going to crave a donut.

A single donut?  I'm not sure what that means.

I could slam several donuts in a couple of minutes if given the chance - and if no one was looking.  I do church security, and occasionally they have donuts in the office that I totally massacre.

Nice scales and lanyard on that one.

[Snip!]

A single donut is an un-American idea!

Where did you get that lanyard if you don't mind me axing?  I saw several variants on Etsy, but none as good as that one.

Got the zero turn delivered back from its annual service. Used the classic to cut off their id tag.

My wife ordered a bunch of cookies from a bakery in FL called Phat Ash Cakes that finally arrived.

Then I broke down a pizza box so it would be ready to use as a cutting board for when the pizza comes out of the oven.

I was wondering as well.  I found it in an old screen shot from 2021...faded photo, unsure why it is faded like that.
But at least it shows it came together with the Classic.

Catching up on the challenge tonight.  You're awl doing great.  I've never seen quite a few of these. I don't think you can have too many Classics.  I've got one on every set of keys.
