Casio GShock GA-B2100DF-1A
on: December 30, 2025, 09:59:27 PM
My Christmas present arrived yesterday, and it was worth the wait.

Apparently Megan decided to get me a new G Shock, and one so new that there weren't any even in the country yet, which is why it was late for Christmas.

It's the newest version of the GA-2100 series, but this one is done in cooperation with the Charles Darwin Foundation, and you can read all about it here:

GA-B2100DF-1A | G-SHOCK ANALOG-DIGITAL Black | CASIO CANADA https://share.google/VmfxZZdZWc17MFZ8g

Basically it's done with some recycled materials and has some special branding on it, but at its core it's still a Solar G with Bluetooth.

Casio really went the distance with very cool packaging too, from the reusable Casio shopping bag all the way to the recyclable packaging with no plastics.

I really like the colors on this one, and the light is so bright you could almost use it as a film projector!

It's not a smart watch per se, but I can do all kinds of things like set timers and alarms and stuff from my cell phone, but on the watch.

For those keeping track, this is the second G Shock Megan has gotten for me, my fourth Solar G Shock and the sixth one I currently own.

I have, over time, owned others, and I think this would be G Shock number 8 that I can think of, but I'm REALLY liking it so there's a good chance it will be G Shock #1!  :D

It has a cool look to it! But I still can't fathom what purpose Bluetooth on a G-Shock serves.

The nice lady at my bank wears one of these watches so she can get emergency notices from family.  The bank won't allow cell phones at the stations.  Lots of schools won't allow phones either for students.  I don't know if that answers your question or not.  I'm barely out of the wind your watch every night stage.  Best wishes.  G

That's something I hadn't considered. It may well be a good reason to equip a G-Shock with Bluetooth.

Mostly it allows you to set timers and alarms, as well as other watch functions more easily on your phone than they would be on your watch.

It also allows the watch to update it's time with the internet accurate time so that it's always showing the right time, even when you hop time zones.

Thanks for that concise and helpful explanation. :hatsoff: Sounds like a Bluetooth-enabled G-Shock probably wouldn't be my thing...but I could get on board with atomic timekeeping.

Here is a screenshot from the app if that helps.

Sometimes it can be a bit maddening to hit the B button twice to get into the mode you want, then press and hold the C button to set, then press a fifteen times and then the B button to move to the next setting etc.

It's a lot easier to just select it on the phone.
