Dry spell
on: March 13, 2007, 09:01:22 PM
I have a few new tools on their way to me that should be at least mildly interesting... a few Squirts, another Juice, a BO PST and a couple others maybe, but other than that I think I am out of ideas...

I think I need a new direction in tools to try out.  I wouldn't mind test driving some of the new tools coming out, but I really want to give something different a shot.  My criteria?  Decent quality, low price- I am a bum after all...

Ten years ago when the Kershaw multitool came out, they were selling for about $80 in stores. Now that they have been discontinued, I see them go for under 20 bucks on eBay.

As a locking plier, the Kershaw isn't as sophisticated as a Crunch. (It doesn't fold up.) But it is a very unique device, very good quality, and can be obtained at a pretty low price these days. (Your criteria)

Funny- when I was looking at them about a year ago they were still pretty pricey.

Under $20 huh?  I think I may have to start looking at them again....

Thanks!

I saw one of those Kershaw's today at a local hunting/fishing store... it still had the $80 price tag...

I still see them around with high asking prices too, but it seems like the going rate on eBay has been steadily declining.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for that stuff in the future.  I see that one went for $20... the only other one I see on eBay this week is $50...

Patience Grasshopper. You should have no trouble finding one for $30 or less.

Dude, if you're really that tight these days, I'd be willing to send you mine to try out. All I ask is that you send it back is comparable condition as you receive it!

The Kershaw is a seriously sweet tool. You owe it to yourself as a toolaholic to give one a whirl for a week or two.

And, if they're going for $20-$30 on The 'Bay these days, I'm getting myself a minty one or the collection, so I don't have to feel guilty for using my "collector's item"!

Thanks for the offer, but by the time you ship it here and I ship it back we'd be at almost $30 invested!

It is a small folding plier tool with a watch built into one of the handles.  It has no other tools beyond the plier head, and has the Stanley Tool logo on it.  From what I understand it was a promotional item made up for sales people at Stanley.

I'll post a pic of it later, provided it isn't considered teasing some other members!

Why no Def, I would not be bothered in the slightest to see a picture of your Stanley Clock Pliers. Please do share!  >:D
