Leatherman Spotted in Artemis 2 Mission
on: April 09, 2026, 04:06:47 PM
Reddits threads trying to speculate the model. Someone said Arc but I'm guessing NASA wouldn't want to take a chance with the magnets?

Anyway, if I was more computer literate I would have started a poll in this thread. But I vote that it's a Surge.

Good point about the magnets! Still very cool to see a Leatherman in space :salute:

Right!? Another crew member has a sheath as well. So there are at least 2.

Magnets do not fail in a vacuum so why would using magnets in space be a bad thing? Just curious. As for the tool, I have no idea.
A little Leatherman information.

I don’t know anything about stuff like that, but my immediate thought was sensitive electronics and potential magnetic interference. Might be wrong though

Same. I know in my work we have lab instruments that are sensitive to magnets. Only in close contact.

I  would think everything sensitive enough would be shielded. Besides, I believe the weak magnets found in a Leatherman Free would have little to no effect.

I was just curious.

Since I'm not a NASA scientist I can't really offer anything of value
But I will say though that bureaucracy will trump any logic or science.

I would guess that those LMs are Charge, maybe even Tom Sachs version but then sheats should be white rather than black

I think the Charge is the better answer.

I had some free time so I asked ChatGPT analyze the pics. Came back and said best guess it's the Arc, 2nd guess it's the Surge.

I agree!  What a mission!

Do you think they're carrying Waves?  They wouldn't be the first from what I remember.
