MTO 20th Anniversary SAK- How interested are you?
on: April 21, 2026, 02:29:00 PM
We are looking at doing a 20th Anniversary MTO edition SAK and I am wondering if it's something that would be of interest to members, because it won't be cheap, and I don't want to go in on it until I am sure.

The Good:
- Limited to 100 pieces (unless demand is higher than I expect in which case we have discussed 200 as an option)
- Black cellidor scales with inlaid metal Multitool.org logo, not screen printed, engraved etc, but REAL inlay like the CAMPING logo.
- It will be a re-issue of a rare model that never officially existed

The Bad:
- It's not ALOX
- It would probably be $180-190 plus shipping
- I'd need to take a non refundable deposit of 50% to make it happen

I would very much like to know what everyone thinks before we give Victorinox the go ahead, but they have already agreed to do it if we want.  So, the big question is, do we want it?

I am truly interested!
(PayPal deposit to…)

A secondary thought, offer scales only!  Can be applied to  a favorite every day model, SPARTAN, CLIMBER, COMPACT, HUNTSMAN…!!! (Scale swapping is a real rabbit hole!)

MTo is my virtual family, it would be an honor to carry a branded tool.

I don't know if Vic will go for scales only, but I may ask and see where they stand.  They have never really been big on the concept before.

If we get enough interest in the next few days (maybe a week?) I'll go ahead with setting up the deposit stuff, but for now, it's all hypothetical.  :D

I do like the mysterious "re-issue of a rare model that never officially existed" part  :ahhh

If only scales are offered we would miss out on this mystery  :P

I was suggesting SCALES as an additional option.   The mystery tool would be primary.

New scales are available on the secondary market,  I have bought and observed a few regular auction site sellers even restocking inventory with no problem.

If enough folks are interested to advance to the next phase, I will announce the model.  I don't expect people to part with money (especially not that much!) without knowing what they are getting.

But in case this fails, I want to keep this idea for the future, because it's actually really cool and I doubt anyone else would have thought of it.   >:D

I think the interest would be contingent on the model specifics.  I'm satisfied that you have something great in mind.  I understand that it is early in the process and details will soon follow.  I wish I had one of the old CAMPING models with the metal inlay.  Both of mine are printed on, with one quickly wearing away.  Best wishes.  G

And that's what I figured to be the response, and it is absolutely valid.

As for the Camping logo, I probably have an extra one somewhere with the inlay.  If I do I'll put it aside for you.   :tu:

Details will be forthcoming eventually.  I absolutely agree that it depends on the model, but I am pretty certain what we have been working on will be of interest.  :D

I'd be interested as long as it isn't a 58 mm.  I'd rather it were Alox, but as long as it's 84 or 91 mm, cellidor with inlay is ok with me.

PS.

Team - Getting Vic to do a custom model for us is quite a coup as, from what I understand, they do not do that anymore  for SAK groups, rather just offer a single model, selected by them, for all SAK groups to go for each year, with the only option being scale colour.

So well done and thank you Grant - And it shows how much importance Vic assign to our site.

..... Awlso ..... a metal inlay  .......  :woohoo:
Something else Vic do not do anymore on their standard models   :pok:

I will see what I can do, but that would probably increase the price, if they are even open to it.

I honestly feel like ALOX has been done to death.  There may be an ALOX model in the works eventually, but that's a whole other dastardly plan.   >:D

This one is a 91mm model.

I had not intended to number them, as I feel like that would add some cost and I think these are expensive enough already!   :ahhh

I suppose I could come up with some "official certificate" or something to accompany it with a number if folks really wanted one.
