If you're like me, who "strives for utmost perfection", let this be a lesson. Attempting to adjust  (too many times or too much) the pliers pockets in an MP650 (MIL SPEC or late civilian) will result in having them broken as they're strong but not too flexible; has happened to me before, and now again yesterday ("can't leave well enough can you!?"). So my fix has been to get a worm-gear hose clamp and, using the solid part as stock, craft a new "pocket".  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Using a Dremel with cut off wheel and diamond point bits, I made a new pocket which fits over the original clip and rivets, and just rivet it in place. The first one I made has been going on a bit over two years; we'll see the new one does. Has been great putting back to work such a classic and, although now not original, works as good as one. "So, don't go after perfection, but strive to be perfect". And if it breaks, that's a worm-gear clamp away to being fixed!  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]    [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
