No idea. It just seemed like a nice round number
Bob - do any of your examples have all of the above, but also the same PAT / REG TM markings? I have one that is identical, but for the fact that it says "REG TM". I'm wondering which is the most common.I spotted some months ago that there's a relationship between this and the blade tang stamp. Wgere you see "US PAT", you don't tend to see "Japan" on the blade tang!

Lol - that would be a 50/50 then I think I might be back with another bid before this one ends

Say, just looking at kwakster's pictures in the first post again.....isn't it cute how they staked the plier pivots on the Japanese PST's? (see the tiny punch marks around the plier pivot)

(see the tiny punch marks around the plier pivot)Yeah I'd noticed that before actually. It seems to be a lot more noticeable on some than others too. It looks almost like they were done by hand and lacks the consistency you might get from an automated process do you think?
I have been a little reluctant in speaking about the reason why i suddenly started auctioning some tools, but a certain situation came up in which i felt i had too.It boils down to this; a friend of mine is a former soldier who served in Iraq and Afghanistan for several tours. Now he is a civilian with a young wife who is pregnant of their first born. The problem is that he has lost his civil job due to the recession, and because of this there is a good chance they will loose their home too.Yes i know, that sounds like another sob story, but one that matters to me.My friend is a very proud man who already said he does not want to be helped in any way, but as i already told Defender, his friends are quite deaf and all have some form of Alzheimers disease so they don't seem to remember what he told them. There are more goodies to be auctioned after this one, so if you spot something you like, don't hesitate to bid on them.
