deal extreme help
on: March 08, 2009, 02:29:16 AM
I want to look at some flashlights on deal extreme. there is a lot on their site and searching with my phone is killing me. can anyone recommended some high output models? I want something superbright or something extremly small but bright like the leatherman flashlights. thanks.

I can look things up for you scrappy - no problem, but I probably can't help with the advice much! I did get my Fenix E01 from dealextreme though.
I used to come here a lot.

that is very kind of you dave. there is no need to look anything up. I was just hoping someone had some previous experience and could share it.
I am sure someone will come around with some recommendations. thanks! that is very generous of you.

what battery type are you looking for?

My buddy bought this one, not the brightest but quality is decent given the price. Not much of regulation thou so output will dim down gradually.

I spend a lot of time, and a little $ on deal extreme.  I do not have one but read the reviews on http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3607  it is very very popular and will be my next light.

For the last few months I have ordered several LED flashlights from DX.
What type and how many batteries, number of modes do you want? Price range?

There are several models at DX that can take either CR123, RCR123 or 185650. There are also models that can take 1xAA or 1x14500, and there are also models that can take either 2xAA/1x18650/3xAAA.

The only lights that DX carries that I haave are the Romisen RC-C3 with a Cree P4 (nice pocketable CR123A based light) and the Romisen RC-N3 (2xAA cells or 1xCR123A cell).

My Romisen RC-N3 has a Cree Q5 emitter and was purchased from Shiningbeam.com (US based seller).
The Romisen lights from Shiningbeam cost a little bit more but that is the only place where you can get Romisen lights with Q5 emitters in them.

I don't know what all cree and other verbiage means. maybe I will stick around this forum and learn some more.
I am looking for aaa or aa battery flashlights. I would consider something that only used one 123a. I prefer aa and aaa based flashlights because they are cheaper to buy batteries for.
cgk and jzmt had some nice suggestions.
thanks for all the input.

Ultrfire C3 is another nice light from DX. It is powered by 1xAA or 2xAA and it has 5 modes. It's length and size is similar to L2D and this is one of the best cheap AA lights.

I have this scrappy: ultrafire B3; http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4796
for almost 2 years now, it's just on/off but it's one of my EDCs that I really like;

bright (brighter than my EO1), uses 1AAA and is small!
Older tech but I still like it ;)

WhichDawg, that's a cool holster.  Where did you get that?

the B3 looks cool.
one question, the C3 has several models with 4 or 5 modes. do they all put out the same lumens? I found one model that says 120 lumens but the other models don't say. i don't need all the modes and would go for the 15 dollar one but the only one that says 120 lumens is the model with 4 modes.
thanks

if it says several modes, the lumens will probably be all different
like low, med, high, strobe, sos etc.

edit: unless you mean different lights! doh (sorry bro)
unless somebody has them all, or has experience with them all I have found "no numbers/lumens"
means low! I'd stick with facts. I think you can email them and ask.

I got that holster with my LumaPower M3; http://www.batteryjunction.com/lumapowerm3.html
and it came with a turbo head (bigger) and with that configuration it didn't fit in the holster! ::)
so I used it for my Champion Plus and B3. the small side pouch was intended for spare batteries!

All 4 put out practically the same lumens. If you don't need multiple modes then go for 14.46 USD model. There's a significant difference in brigthness though when using 1 x AA and 2 x AA (with the extension tube attached).

On 2 x AA it almost as bright as my L2D Q5, but L2D has a longer throw.

thanks everyone. I have put several of your suggestions in my wish list and will be buying them.
I want one of the really bright 900 lumens or more. almost all of them say in the reviews they weren't that bright unless you mod them. anybody know of a model that works well?

this one's great as an EDC light:

I've also got an MTE P7 from there - bit bigger, 8 modes are overkill but it's hella bright and the batts last for ages.
