A key broke in two inside the boot lock of one of our Opel Corsa vehicles.
-I used the flat bit and pliers to open (remove) the lock holding clip,
-flat bit to remove the circlip,
-miniature flat bit and regular flat to remove the lock opening cover,
-use pliers to cut wire and bend it to a L-shape, together with mini flat, to force key tip slightly and then pulled it out with tip of pliers,
-Pliers to replace lock cover and crimp it's edges
-pliers to replace circlip.

So:
One tool for a complex job for the other guys who could only watch as they did not have a life saver, Leatherman!

That's a cool Cybertool! :tu:
What's custom, apart from the Phillips and the watch case opener?

Pics are from when it was new.  Not quite as shiny and unblemished now :)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

That is one Cool CyberTool!!  It's tool selections make so much sense.  I just wish Vic's pliers were as thin as the Wenger ones.  Maybe they should borrow the Wenger pliers for their next CyberTool.

The watch caseback opener was a brilliant idea.  I think Vic should take not of this tool configuration.

Since we have a bit-driver the only thing I would change is I would put a corkscrew on it to carry the mini screwdriver... Too bad they don't have a layer tool like the Wenger micro screw driver on the PTC.

Its a great configuration and is one of my most used SAKs.  You can blame Gareth for it having a phillips on the back, he bullied me into it :P  Obviously for this SAKs role a corkscrew is superfluous but the mini screwdriver would have been useful on occasion.

The file hasn't ever been used though and would be something I'd drop next time.  That said you need something between the driver and blade really to make blade extraction easier.  Tools that would be handy on it would be a magnifier and some kind of flat tipped light prying tool (bigger than on the back but smaller than a bottle opener.

The most used tool on it is the watch opener.  In this age of sealed units its a must have tool and one Victorinox should seriously consider adding to their 91mm line-up.

I thought the file was great, but maybe that would have been more practical in the 80s and early 90s when there was more sheetmetal used.

As far as case openers go, I got a great new little Wenger a while back.  I had not got around to photographing it until now, but the cool thing is it has a fixed blade.  It looks like their regular Alox case openers, but it's a single layer from one piece of stainless steel.  It's also a current model, and is often available on ebay cheap (with branding).  I picked up one without any branding, including no Wenger logo.

I took the Christmas lights down from the outside of the house last night. Just over the porch :)

I chose one of my newest arrivals to take on the job of pulling out the staples; Supertool 300 it was then  :tu:

Did a mighty fine job as you'd imagine  :D

working in the cafe, we have an apple custard cake that always looks terrible when you cut it into slices, as the top is very brittle and it just crumbles and breaks up under an ordinary knife. The result, for so many years we have been serving a cake to customers that looks like it was assaulted by the guy out of american pie  :ahhh. I have my new spyderco ladybug on my keyring, and used that to cut the surface instead of the kitchen knives. The spider cut like a laser, and the surface did not crumble at all. My colleagues were completely in awe of knife and cake.

I actually tried fitting an electrician's blade in place of the main blade on that.  It was close, really close but wouldn't quite fit :(

They'd be nothing to stop it going on another layer though, I just thought on that SAK the main blade would have been best being replaced with something smaller.

How bloody lazy are people these days?
The foyer of my apartment building tends to be treated as a bit of a "dump site" where people bring stuff they don't want that's either outdated or sort of broken.  Went down today and somewhat had tossed, no joke, a carbon fiber camera tripod.  The legs were fine, the post was fine, it was just that somewhat had broken the panning head off of it.
So, five minutes with the lovely Gold TiNi Sog PPP, and I have a set of carbon fiber tripod legs, and I already have a good ballhead I can put on it.

Edit:  Well, my link's not working, but it's a re-branded Benro tripod.  Anyone in to photography would know what that means.

Hmm that would be a great idea.  I wonder if the Elec. blade from the 84mm knife would adapt better.  Maybe we just need to start getting the bitdriver and carrier into the alox scales.

I used my TTi all day yesterday while doing a small A/V install.  Sorry for the rubbish pictures.  The pliers retain enough grip to hold a connector while I soldered it.  And the eyeglass screwdriver worked as a small terminal driver. Nice! :)

was cooking dinner, and decided to use my opinel 6 to cut up everything, because I was sick of the blunt kitchen knives in my flat. The knife cut through everything like butter, made it so much easier.

I've been tiling my brother's bathroom this weekend, so the swisstool proved quite useful opening PVA tub, breaking tab off adhesive/grout tub, pulling tile spacers out, scraping excess dried adhesive off new tiles, and cleaning edges of existing tiles, opening tile boxes, and cutting up old food tubs to make spatulas for the tricky areas

After noticing a loose handle on a drawer in the apartment, I went through each of the drawers, checking for any loose handles and tightening any that required attention; my P4 came in quite handy in that regard.  :multi:
