Frankly, I suspect not.   The Express (daily newspaper where this story came from) hasn't got a fine reputation of in-depth journalism IMO.  More often they print the first thing they hear and then print a tiny retraction and apology weeks later on page 18. :-\

Apologies to anyone out there who reads the Express, but I have an equally low opinion of most newspaper journalism.

Looks like it's usual tabloid material.

@Moncky: the idea we are planning to put CCTV in families' homes is complete and total nonsense

To be fair, I doubt I would believe the tweet of a politician any more than I would trust my wallet with drug addict.

Seems like the usual load of horse colourful enunciation to me - probably written just to give people something to rant about.

I don't buy newspapers. If someone is sat in front of me reading one at work or on a train/ bus, more often than not the headlines make me cringe.

Can't believe people buy this crap.

My wife occaisionally buys one of the more 'sensible' Sunday papers with a ton of extras/cds dvds in it though. When she's read it - it goes in the recycle bin.

My feelings exactly.  As you say the occasional Sunday paper for the Sports section and stuff but that's it.

In this day and age of 24 hour news coverage newspapers are behind the times even before they are printed.  I don't know about the rest of the world but here newspapers are perfectly allowed to voice opinions rather than just facts, and that's OK, just so long as you know it when you buy the paper.  TV/Radio news broadcasts on the other hand are strictly regulated so that they must stick firmly to the facts.  At least that's the idea, and for the most part it seems to work.
