Something I came up with
on: August 18, 2009, 11:56:01 PM
So I was lying on bed half asleep this morning, and I have no idea how or why this popped into my mind. Excuse the poor drawing, it's the best I can do to recreate it.

It's a Spyderco knife I thought of, duno how, don't ask. The saber grind would recess a little bit at each stage, and create pseudo serrations for draw cuts, but functions as plain edge most of the time, and can be sharpened on flat stones.

What do you think?

Very cool mate.  :tu:

Very "spyderco" isn't it.  I could honestly see them making something like that.
I'm back!!

Thanks! Yeah you basically overhang the rest of blade over corner of a flat stone and work on one section at a time, not as easy as real PE but doable on a flat stone.

I think pushing forward on a corner of a sharpmaker could work.

Heh, nah, I don't think they look at designs from random dufus.

Never know till you try, if you hadn't of said it was you're drawing I would have thought it could have been a proper spyderco :tu:

It looks like a very natural design; like a leaf or a bug.

That's got Spyderco written all over it :tu:

It would have been a bugger to make a few years ago, but it should be doable one a water cutter :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Haha, I don't think it'll ever be made, imagine grinding each of those little sections by hand, major pain in the behind.

In PE configuration. By the way all the pics had contrast enhanced, they were drawn on printer paper with IKEA pencil so original was kinda hard to see.

Shoot Spyderco a mail, then your'll see...  ;)

Already posted on spyderco forum, so I guess if they like it they'll see it.

Nice design, reminds me on Ed Schempps Persian. I like the "serrations", guess they can be usefull. Sharpening on a Sharpmaker seems to be easy on that design too, so thumbs up!  :tu:  :tu:
