Ahhhh yessss.  Can remember the Mamba being a really big deal back in the day.  Everyone lusted after it.  Ads in all the knife, gun, and outdoor mags.

Once fondled one at a gun show.  A beautiful knife that I always admired, but never seriously considered due to the price.

A collaboration between Eric Glesser and Grant & Gavin Hawk. Nothing else would need to be said, they can pick the steel/handle and so forth because from what I've seen they really know their stuff. It would be awesome.

How about an all titanium, OHO with a CPMS30v blade in 2 different sizes?  That be the Sebenza

An inexpensive Super Tinker(or Fieldmaster) with a locking main blade. I don't want the "pack-lock" system on the Wenger's though.

Folder; Probably something like my Spyderco Waved Delica, but a little more beefy.  The blade shape is great since the tip is really sharp, but it's not thin.

Fixed blade; Probably the RAT RC4.  It's a good "multi use" knife since it's not really a straight bushcrafter (pretty thick blade), but it's not a full on tactical blade either.  The sheath system is top notch also.

Yep, in fact I have one sitting in my sock drawer. It's OK but with the lock release basically right under your fingers when you're using the knife I don't trust it.

Maybe it's not the greatest of locks, but IMO it adds a little safety and functionality to the Wengers that have it.

How heavy duty a locking system is necessary for a small pocket knife?

If Wenger would add a pocket clip and thumbstuds to the blade for OH opening, then a locking Wenger Highlander would be nearly a perfect EDC for me.

Of course if Vic did the same to the Tinker and SuperTinker those might be even better.

I'd bet on Wenger doing something truly innovative like that long before Vic.  Vic seems way more conservative than Wenger.

The Wenger system seems pretty solid on the new knives I've tried with it but on all the older second hand knives I've had with that system the lock is next to useless  :ahhh so I'm very wary of it.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

The only time I've ever used the warranty was for two Wengers that no longer locked. They were secondhand knives. I never had a problem with the Packlocks I owned new...because I knew not to do this on any slipjoint knife.

It is the weak backspring issue again...if you fan out the tools on that particular layer it will tweak the spring and the lock will no longer engage. I proved it to myself by deliberately doing it to a functional second hand knife. I then took the knife apart and fixed it by bending the spring to restore the tension.

These were all older knives produced before the Victorinox buy-out.

My dream knife would be... hmmm.

G10 handles with a nice bright colour, probably orange.
154CM steel
6 inches in blade length
Nice, decently thick spine for some abuse
A good run of jimping
Solid in hand lock up
Kydex sheath

.. I think that is about it. I'm not picky  :D

My dream knife is a Jerry Halfrich Rounder or a T.A. Davidson Spalted Maple Single blade.

Jerry Halfrich...

Todd Davidson...

I think Jerry and Todd make the most elegant and beautiful pocket knives out there today. I would be honored to own, carry, and use a knife by either maker. When I do decide to place the order for one you guys will know from the amount of knives I list in the for sale section of the forum.

These are always fun threads. I have a few "dream" knives and MTs to toss out there.

Black or dark blue G-10
3" H1 blade with the shape of a Mini-Griptillian, flat ground.
Back lock (I don't want to worry about springs breaking, ever)
Right hand, tip up carry
Lanyard hole
No choil
Jimping similar to the Salt 1

Perfect SAK
Wenger EvoGrip 18. I like the little bugger.

Perfect MT:
Begin with a Charge or Wave Chassis. I can do with or without the Ti scales.
Standard plier head; no crimper.
Standard array of outside opening tools; S30V straight and serrated edges (no gut hook), saw, diamond file.
Pocket clip
Scissors
Awl
Large bit driver
Slotted driver
Fixed phillips driver.
I'm not sure if all of this can fit on the Wave chassis, but it'd be fun to try :D

And a Ladybug Salt for the Keyring.
