Like Neil said, slowness is key here.  Get it all made up and then take your time peening each pin.  I don't know what the others do but I peen each pin so it is still all pretty loose and then go round again nipping them up at the end.
I'm back!!

It's not what I do but it sounds like good advice. :)
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Taking your time peening and frequent checking is key...oh, and not wearing trousers

Second attempt went a little better but its still not right.  I'm going to have to tear it down again and rethink the layout.  With the current layout I can't access the main blade.  Everything it a bit crooked as well.  I might have to send this one off to someone who can rehab it.  It was probably a little too ambitious of a first mod.  However I have some nice fodder if someone wants to do a trade, I'll even throw in some extra knives.

Tell us a little more about what you are trying to do and what the problems are. These guys have a lot of experience with this stuff and may be able to help.

Why can't you get to the blade?

Crooked?  That doesn't sound good. When you put it all together and before you peened, did you press it all firmly together with your hands so it all popped into place correctly?

Everything looked great before I peened.  The bit driver isn't straight which means I can't my fingernail to the blade.  I will take some pics this weekend to show you what I mean.  I will need some new rod and liner possibly as I trashed one of the bitdriver liners and had to fashion my own.

How did you get on with this mod?

I would be interested in a trade/sale for the bits if you have given up.

it is still in a state of flux.  In the process I think I know I destroyed a liner for the bitdriver and had to fashion another one.  What are you looking to trade and what are you looking for as I have some spare parts I can get rid of as well.

This has been sorted by a gracious member.
