Just pointing out...
on: June 12, 2007, 07:42:04 AM
I was toying with my SwissTool the other day, and I noticed that if someone were to customize it to have one-handed blades, it would only work for lefties. I don't know about the Spirit, however.

The Spirit is the same way, with the knife blade up against the left side of the handle. A relatively simple one-hand mod, such as adding a thumb stud to the blade and cutting a spot in the handle for clearance, would only function with the left hand.

Of course, being a lefty myself, I don't really mind..... ;)

One way to cure that would be to remove the rivets, then take the blades out and swap them around so that the knife blade is up against the right side of the handle.  Big problem though on the Spirit: those little backspring fingers are all different widths, and the knife blade is too wide to work properly in the far right position. Curses! Nothing is ever easy.... :(

I haven't checked the SwissTool yet to see if the same problem exists there.
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Yeah, it does.

It doesn't matter for me either, really, because I'm ambidextrious.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrious . I would really like to see a one handed mod on a swisstool ( but none or us dare risk our tools ) . I think it would be quite simple , a cut out in the handle and a thumb stud on the blade .

The Rescue blade on the RS is in the correct position for right handed opening.

:pok:But then you wouldn't be ambidextrous because you'd only have one hand.
