I actually greatly disliked the OH pliers on the SOG and was one of the many reasins why I got rid of my Powerlock.  Many do like them though.

My point was more accessing the tools.  With the covers, it's just another factor slowing you down.  Not a concern of mine but may be for some.

I swear that this OH pliers thing is spinning it a bit. Bruised knuckles is a hell of a price to pay for this "OH" feature!! At least when you OH a Leatherman the friction ramps spare you serious injury

I agree with Ben about the tool covers though. Are they even actually needed? PITA.

Honestly, I have never had a problem with that, I only own a PT-540 though, it could be different with a powerlock.

My daughter can do it fine. I just generally hurt myself and drop the sodding tool (on my foot onec)
