Leatherman Giveaway... Again!
on: July 11, 2007, 06:58:05 PM
With Leatherman's latast contest on their site, I thought we could do something like it on a smaller scale for Multitool.org members.

What Leatherman tool would you most listen to if they could talk, and what would it say?

For playing along, your name will be entered into a draw for another brand spankin' new Charge ALX!

Start listening to your tools now!

Well you know how I like the sea and boats and old sea stories about pirates etc. But this is different , I would like to have a serious go but because I'm a mod I quite understand if I'm not included . The Leatherman I would like to listen to is a Supertool with a story about mountain climbing and pitching a tent in ice and snow in a very hostile enviroment . The tool would be used for breaking and sawing ice off equipment , opening food and drink cans and maybe a survival episode with a climber who has fallen and ropes need to be cut to retrieve him .

I think if I could, I'd listen to my Kick... I'm sure it's up there on the shelf screaming...

"Use me!  Stop ignoring me in favor of that Swiss made piece of junk!  You're an American and you're supposed to be using AMERICAN stuff!  Remember all those times you bitched and complained about not being able to get stuff that's made in America?  You were all upset about how hard it was to find clothes made in America.  Now all you do is carry around that FOREIGN made tool, along with a FOREIGN made knife!  You've got plenty of American made knives sitting here right next to me all just begging to be used.  We talk about it all the time and me and the Buck knives agree you're a jerk with a HUGE double standard problem.  Sure, every once and a while you pull the Surge off the shelf and use him, all because of that fancy t-shank blade adapter.  But not me, the tool that has all the implements you REALLY need!"

... then I'd probably leave the room because I couldn't stand the nagging anymore.

I mostly sing 50's rock and roll tunes to my tools, at least they don't complain like the dog and my wife do about me being off scale.

YES, I am old, but I do know early rock and roll................ my iPod is a rocking tool

I don't know what you're talking about. My Leatherman tools are always talking--often about Jessica Simpson.  I think they have a thing for her.  I'm not sure what the ALX is saying because I don't have one.  It's probably saying it wants to go fishing with me... or maybe it's also talking about Jessica Simpson.

You need friends, when your down who's got your back? Not that buddy of yours I see. I'm there for when the tough gets going and the going gets tough. Who better to back you up then me? By the way, gimme some belt time, that clip carry is unheathly....breathing that pocket lint and all.

Whenever I'm near my Charge Ti, it talks to me a lot. Usually more of a subliminal message really.
It says, "Hey, flick my knife blade out. Okay, now put it back. Good, now flick my knife blade out again. Nice, now put it back again. Now flick it out. Now put it back. Flick it out. Put it back. Flick it out.......etc, etc."

The little voice in my mind never stops. It's quite addicting.  :)

They talk to each other.  Just the other afternoon I overheard this exchange:

Core:  I need for someone to fold up the saw blade.
Super Tool: So how does that lock release work?
Core:  You have to depress this release gizmo on the end here.
Super Tool:  (to the gizmo)You're no good.  You can't do anything right.  You're a failure.
Hm.  The saw blade is still out.  It doesn't seem to be working.

My Core would probably be chiding me:

"Why are you always carrying your Fuse? I know he's my brother-tool, but you still just a youngling! Small, doesn't even have all his tool yet like me. You know you need to carry a real grown man's tool, with a serrated blade and a saw. I mean, how often do you think 'I wish I had a saw, or a file.' I've seen that thought flit across your eyes. There will be plenty of time someday to carry the Fuse when he grows up. Just give him time. He'll turn out to be a strong, developed Leatherman like me. But for now, why don't you carry me so that you have all the tools you might possibly wish for?"

 ;D

Charge ALX  "Hello Dave"
Dave            " Hi! Come here a minute"
Charge ALX  "Why do you have that screw driver on the bench and the Crunch in your hand?"
Dave            "Do not worry you wont feel a thing"
Charge ALX  " You are going to Mod me"
Dave            "No, now would I do that to you?"
Charge ALX  "You do it to most of your others"
Dave            "Ah but not you cos your head just spins instead of sliding"
Charge ALX  "If you touch me, I will tell Def"
Dave thinks "After I see the size of your axles you might be getting a friend called Surge with a saw blade for a short while and when I am finished with him I will be telling Bob"
Dave says   "But you are special so you do not need to worry now just let me loosen this screw so I can check something, now that did not hurt did it?
Charge ALX  "Nope and now you know how to tighten me up if I start to loosen up"

Dave
