Well, I don't recognise Britain's membership of Europe anyway, we've still got Sterling, proper beer and (relatively) sensible employment laws, so none of this has anything to do with me :tu:  :P

Yup. My mother reminds me of that every time the subject comes up. My Grandmother wouldn't even admit to being British. She was English!.

I think (hope) that my generation have got used to being European now in all seriousness, but I know my grandparents would have wondered where Europe was! I've done a little too much travelling and working around Europe myself to deny it's existence :D
I used to come here a lot.

Norway ain't a part of Europe, we are not even part of the EU so that makes us even more un-european!

Pirates beat ninjas (coolness factor)
SAK beat LM
And I we poke so much fun at each other on a regular basis I don't see why this would be offensive.  Heck, I agree with most of it.   :D

I agree with 66% of this statement but Ninjas always beat Pirates but since you are a girl I will cut you some slack. :D

Oh!  So that's how it's gonna be huh?  :D  Fine, but let me ask you this:  How often do you see a ninja with a hot wench sitting on his knee after he just sank some uppity rich guy's ship?  Nuff said.  :D

Point is, you never see a ninja.  More importantly, how often do hot wenches disappear?  They're off with a ninja.

I can joke about these things because I have loved travelling around Europe, and (apart from some airport security guys in Dusseldorf who destroyed my Zippo lighter) I've enjoyed just about every minute of it.

I actually think Italy is the second best country in the world incidentally, and my partner and I have thought about maybe retiring to Italy. That's a fair way away though, but I can see us visiting more and more in the future :tu: I hope so anyway.

I used to come here a lot.

Haha. They made me remove the cotton wool from the inside of the Zippo  ::) Apparently it's a security risk, even though you could buy those plastic Bic lighters after going through the security checkpoint

They (with Typical German efficiency) even had a little, white box, with a lock and ACHTUNG stickers all over it, containing the "lighter destroying kit" :D When I said they couldn't confiscate it, out came the box, complete with tweezers to remove the wadding - the box was full of petrol soaked wadding from other unlucky travellers. If I hadn't have been so annoyed, I'd have been laughing out loud.

Still at least noone was able to hijack my plane with a Zippo, so I go home safely ;)

PS: Florence is definitely on my list of places to visit :tu:

Unfortunately I haven't traveled much outside of the US, but that doesn't mean I don't want to.  In fact, I have a list of places that I want go.  As soon as I graduate, I hope we will be planning a trip across the pond.  If it just so happens to coincide with a Meet then all the better.  :)  I think i would really enjoy seeing different places in Europe and Britain.

I've seen threads like this get really nasty on other forums.  Shows the quality on MT.O that we are using it to celebrate each others differences rather than argue about them :tu:

I've not traveled that much in my life.  I have been to the USA three time though, and each time I was stunned by its beauty and how friendly everyone is.  The place where I've had the least pleasant time was France: most people there were friendly just one or two to spoil the experience.

I've not lost anything recently but when I was younger I (stupidly, but I was only 9) put a toy gun in my hand luggage.  It was my favourite toy gun, and it got confiscated

During my flights around NZ I got pulled over by security - I have a fire steel in one of my bags and the guy wanted to see how it worked and if he should get one for himself.  After a quick try out and some talk about general outdoors stuff I was on my way.  Nice guy.

I just think it would neat to visit a country whose history is so much older than the US.  I love historical places: the big touristy places but mainly the little out of the way places that isn't on some kind of travel brochure.  I would love to just go explore some different places and one of these days maybe I'll get so see some of them.  :)
