Let me get my bench fixed up (couple of weeks) then I will have a play with my ‘new’ set
There are three different sized nozzles in the set, maybe I have a spare  :tu:

Steve the Diamond Calk wrenches were made before 1958. In 58 or maybe late 57 the name changed to Diamond Tool. It appears to have a reinforced hanging hole which would suggest a 1940 to 1958 manufactoring date. Great find.    :tu:     :)

Thanks, I missed the info om the reinforced hanging hole.   :tu:

Lots of adjustable wrenches in here, and I'm curious about it. I can't stand them. I never ever use them on anything that's even remotely tight, they just don't get a good enough grab, and I hate rounding bolts. I won't even use open end wrenches, just box. Maybe it's because the only thing I work on is cars, and around here we salt the roads, so lots of rust, but it feels like it'd be somewhat universal.

Curious what y'all use them for, I suppose

For me, an adjustable spanner is a size/weight friendly option when you've got a smaller kit or tool bag. I don't always want to carry my full set of Stanley combination spanners with me. My main tool bag (which has a bit of everything in) has a large adjustable, and a set of Metrinch 4WD combination spanners where each spanner will cope with more than one size.

Generally speaking,  I wouldn't use an adjustable when working on a car.  The tool size compared to a dedicated spanner is often the issue.  One often needs as much room as possible and dedicated wrenches often have better fit and more clearance.

On the other hand, if I have a job to do on a roof or a ladder and I have several different size bolts to deal with but only one of each, I use an adjustable to keep from having to haul multiple tools with me.

An adjustable in the vehicle is a good thing.  You never know when you are going to happen upon a situation requiring a wrench or socket size you don't have in your set.

That is quite a impressive haul, mind explaining me what or which is one the AVO thing? Technically speaking that means grandfather in portuguese but I'm quite sure that it is not the case.

Nice haul!

The multimeter is great!  Looks like the leads are there also?

What are the two bits in the upper left corner?

Yes,
I did think it was German but I was mistaken it’s Richards, made in Sheffield
And the scales are definitely plastic

I still like the idea of buying a Grandfather at a market  :)

Anyway I was happy to find the AVO for a good price (only good if I can make it work)
I didn't really need one as I already have a couple of multimeters  ::)

Another great good haul there Tony!

Thanks David, loads of things to play with, but first working on getting my bench built properly

On our flea markets you rarely ever find old tools or other interesting stuff - There usually are about 1/3 professional sellers with books, CD´s and Vinyl, old electronics (Radios, Lamps), a few selling jewelry and most private sellers seem to sell old clothing, Toys from their kids or whatever they find when clearing the cellar or garage.

I´m a bit envious, but maybe the lacking selection of cool rusty stuff is a good thing - it helps me not stuffing even more crap, rust and tools into my shop... :D

Nice pickups!  Good to see there are still rust axe heads in the wild there!  I often fear for their continued existence.....
