Today’s estate sale buys.  Lots of NOS or almost NOS tools and some nice rust.  Price per piece was around $2.50.  17 pounds.   So many great items Craftsman, Stanley, Thorsen, Barcalo, diamond, Crescent, Penncraft, Mossberg, HD Smith and others.

Wow. Nice bunch of tools, but my eyes are zooming in on that Loggerhead. I haven't seen one of those for years!

<sigh> There's just something about a mechanically complex / borderline unusable multitool that just warms my heart.

Ain't it the truth?  For $4.50, I couldn't leave it.  :D

Good to see you Bob!

Kennedy makes (made?) a good toolbox. I bought three of them new, several decades ago. Other than a thick layer of shop dust they are all in pretty good shape. :)

The  box was open with no tray, I found the tray on the floor pushed under a shelf.  I popped the tray in the box and walked over to the price guy. He looked inside and said $7.   :D.   The rest of the nicer tools and hardware cost me another $8.

Today’s second estate sale buy.  The tools were $5 and the Workmate was $20.   My first old Stanley 199 box cutter. A really rough perfect handle screwdriver, also my first. CrAftsman, Plomb, Williams, and Barcalo Buffalo wrenches.

M6 other estate sale buy last Friday.  Nails, insulated and specialty screwdrivers. Razor knives, Ace Hardware pump oil can, 2 Irwin L8 bit extenders, a Tasco drill chisel, old brake drum tool, files and other goodies.  The best item is the Case half whittler pocket knife.

You know,,, by the title I always thought this thread was referring to items found in a recently purchased used car. My brother used to work at a auto salvage yard and was always finding goodies.

I'm glad I finally took the time to stop and read a bit of this thread. My local flea market that I enjoy so much is indeed a "car boot sale" event. Moving forward I am sure I will be posting here. Just to be sure,, are yard sale finds appropriate for this thread too?

I would say yes. And I'm looking forward to nicer weather, which will make me more willing to visit my local flea markets.

Definitely, yard sales, estate sales, flea markets, Craigslist,  Market Place, all fair game.

I forget who here has some of these, but I smiled and pounced when I noticed two Avon make-up racks at the thrift store this afternoon.

Nice! That looks pretty good for the job.

Just because it ain't a knife, tool, or diecast doesn't mean you can't use it.

I use Tupperware containers for basically everything but food and am always on the lookout for them. Older ones made in the US are always best. In addition, I also like to do my baking and cooking with older borosilcate (not the inferior modern soda-lime glass) Anchor Hocking Fire King and Pyrex bakeware. I have several different dishes (including some that are the milky white type instead of clear) and not a one has cost me more than a dollar.  Next time I go to Goodwill for diecast hunting, I need to actually pay attention to their glassware.

$25 wrench purchase at a garage sale.  Several jumbo wrench sets and lots of other wrenches. Continental, Delta, Wisdom, to name a few.

This morning's flea market haul,,, $40 spent

Quartz pocket watch $2. At the time of purchase the watch was not operational and the hour hand was loose and spinning around under the minute hand. This afternoon I opened it up and realized the second hand was off and stuck near the edge of the face. All hands have now been re-attached, a new battery installed and the watch is working great.

G Shock GA-140 $10 ,,,, Fully operational

Gruen quartz watch ,,,, $3 ,,,, currently not operational

Mandalorian decals for my daughter and I,,,, two for $5

Vice grips $5 ,,, needed for work,,, the only item I actually went looking for

Case 2104L $10

Gerber Mini $5 ,,, had to have it simply because it matched my full sized one

All in all, I think I did okay today.

I picked this up in an auction. It weighs right at 30 pounds.  I ‘m hoping to restore it to respectability.  Restoration on this scale isn’t usual my thing, but lately I’ve had a desire to give it a try.
