Lifeboat callout
on: August 14, 2007, 07:34:34 PM
Our lifeboat station hasnt been that busy this year ( which is a good thing ) .We had our third shout this year and while the first one happened while I was at work and I was too far away for the second and just missed the boat by a couple of minutes ,  the last one ( August 7th ) I made  ;D I was 4 miles away on my way home from work and my pager went off at 16.28 and I was in the boat on the water at 16.44  :o I was also lucky enough to go helm ( driver , and the one who is responsible for the boat and crew ) .So with a crew of four we made our way to a 17ft fishing boat with engine failure which was anchord 20ft off one off the offshore reefs.
Heres the link to our shouts page http://www.pallingrescue.co.uk/palling_rescue_028.htm

I dont want to sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet because I'm not like that at all . Its just a massive confidence boost for me and I'm just glad things worked out well .It wasnt a big daring rescue with any heroics or anything but it all helps add to experience .
Its good when you keep training and it all works out  ;D Might not always be the case though   :(

Cheers

Fine job there Dunc! Being a Chicken of the Sea myself, I could never do the sort of missions that you and your fellows do routinely. Keep up the good work!

Another shout today , broken down jet ski 2 miles out . But I missed it  :o I was at home and for some reason my pager didnt go off  >:( The Coxswain set them off 3 times  ???  They work on the vodafone network so for some reason my pager wasnt getting a signal  >:( annoying as I'm only about 200 yards from the boat shed .Never mind the result was good and the two jet skiers and jet ski were safely towed home .

Don't worry Dunc- I'm going paddling today, so you'll probably get called out!

Sure I am just going on the local lakes, but given how huge I can screw things up, I just might be in your waters by tea time!
