A trip into Warriors
on: September 01, 2010, 05:52:20 PM
On a bit of a Cold Steel kick of late.  Kind of burned out of the rest until some new stuff
comes out.  Picked these up in Vancouver yesterday.  Like them both very much.  One
is the Rajah 3 and the other the discontinued Black Rock Hunter.

Thanks Ben,  I was quite surprised at how well made and solid it feels.   Great backsprings,
and snap.  Nice thick piece of aus8 as well.  It has a bit of a fiddle factor to it but I can see some
use in the kitchen with it as it's blade length and shape are begging of it to be used on some lunch.  :)
He did give me a good deal on it well under $40.

And Jay's store gets another one...

Wish me luck, I'm heading in on Friday to look at fixed blades.  That Rajah looks all kinds of fun though - picture of it in your hand?

I suppose it's a good thing I don't live near him, it'll be very bad for my finances.

The big surprise for me was handling the Spartan.  This knife was heavier than I expected.  When they say
a knife is built like a tank believe me this one is!  The other surprise was Jay showed me how he closes the
knife since the back spring although not impossible to close is very difficult as you would normally release
one.  It's best done by flipping the knife over and using your middle finger because it is one stiff and
long travel lock.  :-\  It's the price you pay for secure lockup.

Axe, sword, perhaps if you wanted to go knife-hunting moose or bison...

2xtap,

What does that Rajah 2 actually weigh do you know?  Also,  how is it to carry around in pocket for
brief periods?  Closed length?  Thanks.  :)

Sean,

I did a quick review of this beast after I got it back in January........ http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,16585.0.html

Give it a look, I put in full specs and weight. As well as some observations about carry and a bunch of more pics of it. But to quickly summarize it is built stout and well, weighs in at nearly a pound, and while I prefer larger knives even at my size of 6'3" tall and around 300 lbs. I wouldn't pocket carry this thing.

But it's "Ohhh and Ahhh!" factor is way up there.  :D

2xtap,

thanks for the info and review.  I'm contemplating a Spartan but the triad lock on this one is a bitch
to release.  I know some talk on blade forums has said as much as well.  :)
