We get two or three sick days, depending on years of service. Without pay. After that we have to use vacation time. But only if work is slow. If work is busy, like it is now, we aren't allowed to be sick.

I thought OSHA regulations required Sick Leave/Days to be a reasonable amount of time.  I know that paid Maternity Leave isn't mandatory in the US, though.

You are not going to like it but here go's

It depends if the company is a part of a government program for reducing the unemployment and people that are on disability. If a company is not a part of the program then we just get 9 sick days, but if the company is part of the program you get 26 sick days, these days are just for when you call in sick and there is no requirement for a doctor’s note. But if you have gone to the doctor on the first day and got a note saying that you can’t work for like 7 or 10 days you don’t lose any of the 9 or 26 sick days. The only difference is that the government pays for when you are sick with a doctor’s note and the company pays for when you don’t have a note. The company cannot fire you for being sick and you have to be on sick leave for continuously 365 days before the company can legally fire you.
