The Dragonfly I was specifically looking at was the plain edge, flat grind, VG10 model.

I do like the idea of the metal internals on the Delica, and I don't mind a little extra weight (I've been carrying a Tenacious, so most anything smaller is going to be lighter) for the strength.

At the same time, I'm not going to be using this knife for much other than opening envelopes, packages, cutting boxes, string, and so on.  The typical things you use a small knife for.  If I need to do something burly with it I've got the Tenacious and a Gerber Big Rock to use for beating on.  (Eventually though I'll get one of those sweet Shemp Rocks with the modified Kukri shape... those are sweeeeet!)

After I get the Dragonfly 2, if I want something bigger I'll just get an Endura; they're only a few bucks more than the Delica, so you get more knife for not much more money.

Good choice.  From carrying the Dragonfly 2 around, I can tell you that people almost don't see it as a knife.  Even among the people I know that don't really like pocket knives, they tend to think it's "cute" rather than "tactical", which make me perfectly happy.

Good to know.  I just started a new job at a somewhat conservative college, and I don't want to freak anyone out by whipping out the Tenacious or even my Outrider for opening a box or package.  I think even a Persistence would have the same effect.  (I'm a professor, so I get a lot of free books, some of which are sent in human-proof packaging.)

I'm definitely leaning toward the Dragonfly 2 now.  It has a lot of improvements over the first one, and I like the blade shape better than the Delica's blade.  I thought about an Ambitious, but I want to step up to a better quality knife; the DF2 seems like a good first step.

I think you will be quite pleased with the Dragonfly2. I had a first gen one, and the clip was annoying, but they fixed that on the second gen. My only other complaint was that whole knife felt too small, which is why I preferred the Delica. Since you are looking for a smaller knife, I think you will be very happy with it. Again, the flat ground VG-10 is one of my favorite blade steels. It really does take a great edge with minimal effort.

Thanks super...  :)  I was thinking about a Robin 2 but decided against it because I really do want to step up to a knife that has a better overall quality...  I also want something that's not going to get in the way of my hand when I reach into my pockets for other things like keys or a handkerchief.  And, I've seen them for about $45 on various internet stores, which isn't a whole lot more than a Persistence, and a good $25 less than a Delica on average.

By the by, I read somewhere earlier today, I can't remember where, that the Dragonfly 2 does have the nested steel liners in it, but that's contrary to all the other things I've read, and reviews that I've watched.  So can you or anyone else tell me what is actually the case with the DF2?  If it does have the internal steel, that'd be great, but right now I'm still pretty much sold on one.

The FRN Dragonfly 2 does not have steel liners.
