Looking for... Brass... Peak LED Solutions
on: November 07, 2011, 02:14:54 PM
As title says, I'm into hunt for Brass LED light. I know there is Maratac Copper AAA Light, it looks great, but it's not brass....

Only brand I came across while googling is Peak LED Solutions. They have Brass LED lights, allmost every model they make, they have brass version...

But... I don't know anything about Peak LED Solutions... I've been on their site, but it's like all is written on Japanese (or Serbian for you guys), I don't untherstand a word saying there.... Though I hear they are OK, I'd really like to have some first hand impresions of theis products. So, anyone??

Also need advisory. Other then Peak, do anyone know any other manufacturer that makes brass LED...

What I'm looking for:
- batery - AA (prefered) or CR123
- Cool white tint
- OP or LOP reflector
- should have 2-3 mods of operation
- Tail click (not mandatory)
- 130 - 180lm max power

Thanks!!

Their website is practically impossible to navigate.  The best thing to do is just call them.  You should be able to find their number by poking around their site a little.  Just tell them what you want, and they should be able to set you up.

I haven't bought a light from them myself, but from everything I've read on CPF about how to buy from them, calling them is the best way to go.
The first Noble Truth: life is suffering.  Only by accepting that fact can we transcend it.

Hopefully NutSAK will chime in, as he is a Peak expert, but here is my $0.02:

Peak's website is garbage, don't bother.  You should phone them directly.  Their main dealer is RMSK, but he doesn't ship internationally, so I think your only option is to talk to them if you want something specific.  Otherwise you can keep an eye out on CPF's B/S/T forum.

They have another dealer, Overready, which I think ships internationally, but they don't sell the brass versions.

Unfortunately, there isn't a source of aggregated information about Peaks readily available, so you have to do some research.  You can start by reading this thread and then check out the Peak forum on CPF.

As far as impressions go, once you get over the ordeal that it is to research and aquire one, they are great lights.  They have VERY high build quality, probably the best around at the price level.  In order to achieve this though, for the longest time they were primarily single mode lights.  Now, though, they have migrated all of their pocket lights to using QTC which gives infinitely variable light output.  It isn't without its drawbacks, but it does work and is robust.

I'm not sure if the criteria you list are for an alternative to a Peak light, or for the Peak brass itself, but some of them aren't available:

What I'm looking for:
- batery - AA (prefered) or CR123 - OK here
- Cool white tint - OK here
- OP or LOP reflector - Most (all?) Peak pocket lights now use optics instead of reflectors.
- should have 2-3 mods of operation - either single mode only (for older used ligths) or infintely variable with QTC.
- Tail click (not mandatory) - No tail clickies, but most have an option for a momentary tail switch.
- 130 - 180lm max power - Should be possible with Alk/NiMh, definitely possible with Li-ions.

Hopefully this helps a bit  :salute:

A few that meet your needs

I don't think either of these are currently in production, although they turn up used on CPF from time to time and are still nice lights, IMO. :tu:

I believe the Logan is their current standard CR123 based light, available in brass.

The Logan is also available in a 17500 size which you can then buy an adapter kit to utilize AA.

The El Capitan is the current standard AA sized light.  More slim than the Logan, but less powerful.
