Dunkle strop

I just got a Dunkle strop from www.thewoodcraftshop.com.  I ordered it with some Yellow Stone stropping compound.  With just a few strops it turned the factory edge on my new SAK's into razors with a mirror polish bevel.  If you take reasonable care of the edge you don't have to use a stone, just a few strops on this.  It worked real  good.  The Dunkle strop is a nice one.  It uses pigskin for the leather which is fairly thin with not much give or cushion which could round the bevel.

They probably did.  But that's another issue.  This thing works really good.

Thanks for the link.  I just ordered one.  I've heard nothing but good things about Dunkle Yellowstone compound.  The strop looks nice too.

Yes, I checked on several stropping compounds and this seemed to be the best.  They don't really say much about what is in that stuff.  That place delivered real fast.  If you already have a good honed edge on the blade or the factory hone it only takes a few strops to get it REAL sharp.  The other popular stropping compound is FlexCut Gold.  There are also several others.

I should have mentioned I hope you ordered the strop and Yellowstone compound combo instead of ordering them seperate.  You save about $3.00 getting them together.  You can easily make a strop and add the compound but the pigskin is thin and firm so won't round the bevel.

Yes, I ordered them together.  However, if you order the Yellowstone compound separately, you get three canisters for $6.95, so I think ordering separate may save money in the long run.

EDIT:  The picture shows three canisters, but I can't be sure you get more than one if you buy separately.  The picture of the Dunkle strops shows several strops, but I'm sure you get just one.

Hmmm... could be.  One canister will last a long, long time.  The canister actually has a brick of the stuff in it kind of the consistancy of chalk.  You scrap some onto the strop and just rub it in.  Of course if you have 300 multi-tools like that Dunkle Strop Def you might need 3 canisters.     I just got mine in the mail last night, ordered it on Saturday, real fast.  Got a nice strop finish on my SAK's, a couple of carving knives and a couple other blades I have.  I think you'll be very impressed with how fast and how sharp it puts an edge on.  The stuff works like magic.
