Thanks for the help ez and Sos. I appreciate hearing your opinions. I’ll post up when the light arrives in a few weeks or so.  :-\

Carpenter pants. Uhhh...heck yeah, I need to upgrade my wardrobe. I have gotten to the point where my light is as important to carry as my knife. Carpenter pants would be perfect.

When out in the woods, I like to wear a photographer's vest. The vast amount of pockets lets me carry EVERYTHING I need.

I am a LV Electrical Contractor so I carry tools all the time and lights are part of that as I am always in and out of the dark and often it would be life threatening without redundant and plentiful light.

So many years ago now I decided to try the Carhart pants and have not taken them off since!
I can carry a set of Diagonals,Flex Strippers a knife and marker in the other side sleeve pocket and a screwdriver in the back.

Many times I can get by with that and my Skinth with its Centerdrive or Spirit X based kit and a few more smaller lights on the belt.

I would rather have too many lights and not need them, know what I mean?

Good Times!

I agree completely,I am not sure there is another light on the market that good for the price, except maybe the S2+ of course!

The S2+ is another nice light, especially for the price.

We should get together to burn our money. Pretty sure we could heat a small house.

Ohh... I know your go to was the rotary. I had an HD over a decade ago. Beautiful light. Don’t even remember what one I had. Wish I never sold it though. Jealous.

You could probably use a FW3A or Emissar D4 to light it.

We all have a bunch of different lights. We should save money and just pass them around. Every time we get to that point where we feel we need a new light, we just trade. It would fool us into thinking we spent our money.

I thought maybe a "try before you buy" program between friends would be nice. I know I am very happy with some of the lights I have gotten and wouldn't mind letting others see if it something they might like as well. Just a thought.

Does anyone have a breakdown of runtimes for the FW3A? I can't seem to find anything solid. When it comes to my EDC lights, I certainly want to be able to light up some real estate if needed, and I want a UI that gives me plenty of meaningful options, but a low or moonlight mode with a long runtime is important too.

One of the things I love about my favorite lights (Thrunite T1 and Sofirn SP31) is their ability to last for weeks if need be.

I picked up a similar cheap one from harbor freight tools a year or so ago. Works well for spotting if an instrument has had any over spray or other finish work done.

There are too many variables, but there is a thread on BLF that gives a rough estimate. Not sure if I’m allowed to post links to there, but just type in a google search.

L to R

Astrolux FT03, Convoy C8+, Sofirn SP31 V 2.0, Thrunite T1, Notecore TUP, Sofirn SP10, Olight I3T, Maratac AAA, Olight I3E, Rovyvon A2, Olight I1R

How are you getting on with the Rovyvon A2?

Looking into getting a light for my keychain.

It puts out an incredible amount of light for such a small light. The A2 feels rock solid and being mini usb rechargeable is excellent.

Having tried both, I would say yes for me and my uses.  However, I also know many people would say No

It does make it a little tricky though when thought about in this way doesn't it?

I carry the ZL SC64 all the time and could get at least 4 of them for the same money but luckily I am not in a spot where I have to choose right now either!

But the ZL sure carries for me a lot better for EDC too.

ZL’s are hard to beat. I have a SC52w L2 that has been a tank for years now. If I had to choose one light it would be a ZL. I’ve accidentally drop kicked mine a few times and it just keeps going. Hmm...guess I know what I’ll buy next, now that my car is paid off.

For me it doesn’t really.  Having spent a lot of time deployed on Navy ships, you couldn’t just go out and purchase a replacement if something failed and you had limited space.  I really came to appreciate quality products that I could rely on, especially on frequently used and primary edc.  If it is for home use or where I can easily access back-ups, then it isn’t as crucial and I am more willing to give items a chance.

Not all electronics can tolerate salt water, drops onto steel decks, extreme temperatures, etc.  I at least know from personal experience Surefire, Fenix, and HDS can.  I also know Maglite, Pelican, Nitecore, and some others I cannot remember have failed me under those conditions.
