Boker access tool/small pry bar
on: February 16, 2012, 01:16:00 AM
Does anyone have any experience with or input on this tool from Boker? I know it's not an Atwood but it is in my pricerange and has a couple of features I'm interested in, my forum search wasn't all that productive. Any advice on this tool would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance. Also if anybody has a used one they want to part with I'd be interested.

I've handled one at SMKW; it was neat, but I have to agree with some reviews that the pry tip is thicker than what it should be, in my opinion.

[Edit:  The same review stated that the Schrade pry tool actually worked better, thanks to a thinner prying edge, YMMV.]

Travis has one listed and I am trying real hard not to buy it:

http://www.edcsource.com/Boker-Plus-Vox-Access-Tool--FREE-Shipping,name,111139,auction_id,auction_details

I've been wanting one of these since I first saw them at SHOT a few years ago.  I'm not a huge one piece tool guy but I have my share of them, but this one really appeals to me.

I saw that last night and actually started to pull the trigger on it but it was late and I really didn't feel like setting up the account process. Can't explain what my fascination with pry bars is but it's becoming a fetish! :ahhh

I've been tempted, but I still question the logic of a titanium pry tool, just doesn't seems to last if you actually use it. The tip doesn't seem to be a problem though, from the photos it's nothing you can't fix with grinder, or stone.

I'm sure if you just emailed Travis directly he'd make arrangements to help you outside of the store process.  Fortunately I know the owner of EDCSource and while he's kind of an ass I'm sure he'd allow an outside sale.  :P

Besides, if you buy it, it means I don't have to!  :D

Hey Grant, I was unable to access that e-mail address for Travis. If you speak to him would you direct him to me, also I'm working all night tonight so he can call if he likes. I have to have that bar.
Thank you sir,

I have sent him an email to give him a heads up so he should get in touch with you soon.  If you don't hear from him (he's the "do everything guy" at the university he works at) right away you can send him a private message here on the forum.  Here's his profile info:

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php?action=profile;u=15

Just between you and me, I think he tries to ignore my emails because there's usually more work for him in them!   >:D

Yeah, that's me. . . I'm always running off and hiding.  I wish that were the case, sometimes.

Thanks for the interest in the Vox Access Tool.  It was sold earlier today.

That was the last of those I had.  Please send me a PM and I will try to help you get one or something comparable.

SG,
Have you looked at other prybar tools?

I love my Gerber Artifact  :tu:

I have looked at some others and ordered several along with the artifact. BTW the reviews on the artifact are really bad, all centered around people cutting themselves attempting to open the knife or the knife opening on it's own while in their pocket resulting in them getting cut reaching in for it. Any problems with yours, mine should arrive any day now. Thanks for the input.

Mine is fairly hard to open and I have never had it open accidentally
The 'screwdriver' parts are a bit 'Meh' but its great for opening paint tins etc  :tu:

I love the Artifact and I've never cut myself with it.

But if you are that concerned about it then get the knifeless version, aka Shard:

Sweet! Can't wait to get mine, not at all worried about the knife. My sense is that it's a handler issue and not a product defect.

Well it's not the smoothest opening blade in the world, but then I think I cut my fingers cutting model pieces from the trees as a kid a thousand times, so the blade is not the safest thing in the world.  Still, it's one of the few that I have carried that I haven't cut myself with.

I do prefer the Shard though, and when you put the two together the Artifact seems pretty bulky.
