My Ten Thousanth Post.... Giveaway time!

Well here it is ladies and gentlemen, my 10k post....


I joined MTO on February 7th 2009, undecided about getting a Charge or a Wave at the time (I now have several variations of course). This was preceded by some lurking and reading of many threads, during which I realised that this lot were surprisingly friendly and easy going compared to other forums.

This is the place for me I thought to myself

I have had the pleasure of meeting many of the members in person over the years and getting to know dozens more of you online. I have not yet been disappointed with my original impressions of this place. The humour, generosity and level of conversation is often overwhelming.

Thank you to Grant, everyone else who supports the running of things here and thank you to all other members for giving me an amazing place to visit and keeping a smile on my face more times than I can count.



So... I suspect doing a giveaway would be appropriate at this point
One caveat: This is only open to members with over 50 posts as of today.


Just post anything you like about MTO in this thread and I'll pick a random post number next week. I'll aim for Monday 10th at 9pm GMT

I'm only part of MTo because you brought me here  (Yep, the rest of you can all blame nuph!) Since then I've abandoned where I was previously hiding and plan to be here a long while yet - assuming my finances hold up 

MTo is the only part of my life where I have no "responsibilities". No one coming to me with their problems, or expecting me to solve their ills. Here I can just chill out with good people, be it an evening in with a glass of wine, or just for sporadic sanity breaks througout an average days chaos ... and feel at ease, regardless of what is happening in the real world. This is my safe haven when the arse is dropping off everything else in the world

While multitools and Swiss Army Knives are the theme of the party (and the wealth of knowledge here is amazing), what makes it such a good place is the people - from the guys that make the rules, through the folks that enforce them, right down to the runts like us who see how bendy they are  I have met some great folks online and in person, people who I would genuinely call friends - not just aqcuaintances. I'd stick you in that category too mate  Thanks for dragging me here, thanks for being one of the many good 'un's that makes this forum the place to be, and congrats again on the 10k

Well what can i say that ive not said mant times about this site, well for reviews and good friends this is by far the best forum on the net, i could add a lot more but we all know how good this forum is

I've only been a member for a couple months, but this place has quickly become my favorite little corner of the interwebs.    everyone here is friendly, helpful, and respectful of others' opinions.  I've seen (and participated in) healthy debates/discussions, but I haven't seen it devolve into trolling or name-calling like you see so often on other sites.  everyone made me feel welcome right from day #1... it's a great place to hang out.  your generosity on this giveaway is another example of how the members make this place so great. 

the only problem I've found is that I need to find a way to increase my MT budget...

Nuphoria, you described my thoughts about this forum to the point.

I stumbled across this forum a couple of times in the past while searching for some info, but the thread that got me to join was Maxped Organiser thread, more precisely THIS POST by DaveK and the Zebra telescopic pen in it. I ordered 3 right away and to this day it's been my favourite pocket/skinth pen. I joined the forum so I could bookmark that thread and as I read more I found that I liked this place more than any other place on the internet. Great humour, nice people, no drama, ... I wanted to be a part of it. I staid in the background, didn't post at all for three months until a topic about my favourite SAK, a Wenger Forester/17 popped up, and I joined in. I got a very warm welcome as do we all and I felt I belonged here. It felt, for a lack of a better word, like home. There was a thread about heavy duty multitools and ST300 that the author had written very well but had trouble with the pictures and I edited his post to ad pictures. I got a PM from a mod right after that. A PM from a mod "What did I do wrong??" It was Bob who was actually thanking me for helping around  . No one ever did that on any other forums. And it was just my first week here  . After a while I almost forgot about any other forums. My post count here is double of all my posts on all forums I ever was on combined. I still visit some for the friends I have there but when I turn on my computer or check in from the phone this is the first place I come to.

The main thing I love about MT.org is the members. Everyone is very nice and the Admin & Mods aren't to bad either.  If I did not have the forum I would be all knife/MT addicted by myself.

Wow, 10K!  Very cool!    I found this forum by accident when I decided to do a bit of research and see what other SAKs were out there other than my beloved Tinker.  Guess I got what I deserved.....    The people here are great, I've got a bunch of people now who I've never met and yet still consider friends.  All the subtle (and at times, not so subtle) enabling that goes on here is just part of the charm.

My favorite thing about MT.O?  Easy.  It is the ONLY forum I've ever seen that is truly international.  I feel it has made me a better, more well rounded person... And that's due to the awesome members.

Congrats and thanks for the giveaway! The thing I like most about this forum? That's a hard one   For me, it's the people. If the world banned knives and multis, I think we would still be here chatting amongst ourselves, enjoying the times we have all shared and the friendships we've made. I have made personal friendships here that I thought I never would have. Both domestic and foreign. I've encountered a sense of openness and honesty that frankly I thought was lost from the world.

What I like most about MT.O is that it is a collection of tinkerers, engineers, and gizmo enthusiasts that actually takes care of one another, even though most of us will never meet in person. I'll never be the most prolific poster here, nor will I ever have the most toys, and I might go days without even visiting the site. But it always feels like home when I log in.

One of my favorite things is the mods are laid back and they don't give an infraction because you make a slight mistake or fart while borrowing the forums. I've also made some great friends here. There isn't a day that goes by I don't text with Tom jerseydevil. Steve tattoosteve and I text at least weekly also. I consider them both friends. Def is also a top notch guy and he don't think because he owns a forum he's better then the members. All around great place!
