Deluxe Explorer helped me fully restore a small guitar and change the strings on a normal acoustic. The small pliers are perfect for the fine tasks of feeding and pulling strings, as well as cutting them.  :salute:
"Deluxe Explorer"? I built an Explorer with pliers also. Care to share a picture of yours?

Here's mine...
SAKs:
58mm: Bijou (3), Classic SD (7), Mini Champ Plus (mod), Alox Classic SD, Rambler (3), Companion
65mm: Wenger Esquire
74mm: Executive (2)
85mm: Traveler, Delemont S10, Bass
91mm: Champion "c", Swiss Champ (4), Explorer (3), Deluxe Tinker, Huntsman, Serrated Spartan/Weekender, Explorer Plus, Deluxe Explorer Plus (mod), Outdoorsman Plus, Champion "a", Champion Plus, Timekeeper Alarm, Golfer
93mm: Pioneer Alox

I somehow wrote Deluxe Explorer instead of Deluxe Tinker

The only thing keeping me from making a Deluxe Explorer is having the CyberTool M, which is rather similar... the mag glass is nice though, but then I could carry the SwissChamp...

After re-profiling the broken tip and a full cleaning/servicing, I carried my "new to me" Old Cross Electrician today. Not much call for a knife today, but I did get around to replacing the tip on a Shimano rod. I think I'm gonna like this SAK.

I've thought about a CyberTool, but am happy with a SAK with an inline Phillips driver with a hex bit coupler that slides over it.

I alternate between the Deluxe Explorer and a Swiss Champ, depending on what I think I'll need that day. The DE takes care of most of what I need.

@SteveP, what kind of hex bit coupler do you use? I like the idea of using it with the inline Philips driver on my Explorer and Swiss Champ.

It’s more on what I did for my SAK today.

I repaired a hex coupler whose magnet fell off after dropping it on a tiled floor ONCE. The magnet flew off with the 1/4 hex bit inside it.

It was a pain to put back a strong magnet.

What’s so important with this coupler? It has a thinner hole which matches the width of the inline drivers of the Explorer, Herc, Spirit and that Wenger SAK with compass.  Yes, there’s a bit of wiggle room, but same goes with the 1/4 hex bit.  It will not fit a Swiss Tool philips, Rebar, MP600, or Roxon Storm. This allows me to load up on hex and T bits which SAKs don’t have (except those with Cybertool attachments).

Zephron, it looks like you have the same hex bit coupler that I have. I created a shim from a flexible magnet (the thick ones they stick on the backs of business cards) and used double-sided tape to stick in on the inside of the coupler. Nice tight fit now. Get yourself a 1/4" hex socket adapter and you can use sockets with it, too.

Kraken, I got my first one with a Winchester multi-tool that came with the coupler and a set of hex bits. I got a second one with a brandless version of the Winchester for about half the price on eBay.

Then I scored pay dirt and found just the coupler and bit set on AliExpress.com for less than $3! Here's a link:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000244018257.html

And here's a thread I started a while back with some other ideas about adding hex bit capability to a SAK:

Used the saw on my Trekker to prune a mesquite tree next to the sidewalk that’s on my morning walk route.  Made short work of it, that thing is effective  :)

While the Mrs went out on her morning walk and I had to take the furball out to do his duties in the backyard I cut a few little flowers for her using the sak,,
Now let’s see if she notices it in the window.. lol

Yes they do Tony, surprisingly well for something so small. Best to watch the video on their site for the technique as it’d be easy to break.

The Firefly shown I’ve found better than the Fireant which fits in the corkscrew but the Fireant comes with tinder that also works well. It does work I should add but a bit fiddly.

You can get the tinder separately on the Tortoise Gear website so would recommend Firefly plus tinder and then you get to keep the mini driver, although do lose the toothpick, so suppose depends which is more important to you

I agree. The Firefly is easier to use and seems to make mor sparks in my experience. One thing not in the video but I saw in another post or video, I can’t remember where or I’d link it, is that you can use the wire stripper on the bottle opener/screwdriver. I’ve tried it and it works well.

SAK scissors are the best :)
Trusty Climber :climber:

Patched up some fly screens on the front door, seems to have worked well enough but poorly designed product.

It comes in 3 layers, the fly screen itself, an adhesive layer and backing. Every time I tried to peel off the backing the fly screen came away without the adhesive. Easily solved by having a section of backing without adhesive and screen, took forever  :ahhh

Yup, you don’t have to tell me, those scissors do the job, I did the same thing on my screens a few months back on two windows just to patch up two holes, only thing is I just placed one layer cause it was temporary, now I have two freaking rolls of screen along with the rubber tube and need to work on like 3windows,,

Just needed the FarmerX, I had to install a window a/c unit, so I needed the can opener for a few screws then the scissors to cut some foam, but of course the blade to cut the straps and tape to open the box, duh..

What did I use on my SAK today….

Gave this ol’ Wenger a good soak and oiled up for the October challenge.

Then the blade needed a bit of touchup as well.

Here’s just a quick pick of the “after”. I also used the pen-like sharpening tool on it.

So yesterday I sharpened a few pencils. I did not do it with a SAK but with a Rough rider pen knife. I've gotten pretty darn good at free hand, pocket knife pencil sharpening and I give them a really nice point. And though I won't put the pencils in the holder with the point down so I won't damage it and have it nice and fresh when I need it, I just have to be careful around it. Of coarse I forgot about it so today I smashed the backside of my palm right into that fine tip. And it pierced well. Of coarse, a decent piece of graphite was left in the wound. Tried to squeeze it out but it wasn't going to give in that easy. So here comes SAK usage - first I grabbed just a random one from the drawer to use the tweezers. But they weren't doing it. So I grabbed the Handyman to use it's pliers. Now they are too small to be decent pliers but damn if they aren't great tweezers. Used the scissors to take some of the arm hair out of the way, then the small knife to make a small cut (or two because the first one wasn't in the right place  :D). Took the pin out to dig around a bit and the pliers to do the actual job. Afterwards used the Explorer's magnifying glass to see if I've gotten it all out. Used  some 95% alcohol to clean the wound and thought it would be great to clean the tools on my Victorinox with it. Did you know that strong enough alcohol starts to dissolve the plastic scales on a SAK ? It was a surprise for me for sure ! Anyway, it was one of those days when I didn't have to wonder what to use my toys on  :climber:

Well, I don’t have a pic but I’ve been doing some work on the house and I’m drywalling a 1/2 bath in the basement for the kid, and I needed to cut three holes, two for a pipe and one for a switch box, and I must say the FarmerX’s saw cuts like butter! Right through 1/2”!

Well couldn’t use the FarmerX this time, but the Mrs and I were taking the trash out and she ended up getting a splinter/sliver, and of course any one knows any sak’s tweezers are the absolute best to get them out! Only problem was this one didn’t want to come out so I had the Mrs go get the Champion Plus so I could use the pin to work it lose and get it out!
Of course let’s not forget about me, cause as she got the splinter she dropped the wood in which scratched me all down the back of the leg,,

I started a new job on Monday as a wiring tech for a company that manufactures power distribution switch gear. Somehow in the last 12 years since I've done electrical work they've figured out how to produce blueprints so small that you just can't read the wire numbers,,,, I just struggled all day. It wasn't just me,, even the young techs that didn't wear glasses were struggling, and I noticed that some had a magnifying glass in their toolbox.

Yesterday evening I ordered a nice magnifying glass to use at work. To get by while I wait for it to be delivered, this morning I had a plan,,, I packed the Champion in on my hip. That little magnifying glass is sure powerful!! Would have liked to capture an action pic, but cell phones are strongly prohibited on the floor. The SAK magnifier isn't exactly the perfect tool for the job,,, but it sure was helpful today.

I was kind of surprised just how light the Champion was to carry. A few times I even felt the urge to reach around and check and insure it was still in the sheath.
