The Country Flag Classics Club!
on: March 30, 2013, 11:57:22 PM
As some of you may know, Victorinox has a series of Classics with a country flag on the front side instead of the shield.
If you have one, post a photo of it!

I will start by the Turkey flag one: this might be the only photo of this knife you'll ever see!

By the way, could someone post this photo on SAK Wiki on the respective page, crediting me as "TurkTeen"?

Good idea for the Thread here.

Would be happy to add it to the wiki, but can you try to get a better photo, maybe just take it outside or in better light from a window?

I can sure take another photo tomorrow morning!

This photo is a few weeks old but the knife is pretty much in the same condition, I will upload it tomorrow morning.

Thanks for your interest! :tu:

Hi TurkTeen,

Welcome aboard. Nice to see someone else with an interest in the Classic Flag series. Victorinox did them for over 50 countries, with some countries having multiple versions. In addition to the older Flag series, Victorinox is doing an updated version of some flags, typically for 84mm or 91mm knives, but occasionally for the Classics (see Spain and the US). I've been collecting them for years, but they are difficult to come by. Many dealers refuse to sell them outside their country. Your Turkish one is definitely rare.  :tu:

Interesting thread!  :tu:

By the way Karl, going off topic a little bit, have you ever posted pictures of your whole collection? If not could you do it? I think will be really cool!! Is amazing the diversity that you have.

Back to topic, unfortunately I dont have any country flag SAKs, but they are really cool!

Hi rmagralha,

Thanks for the kind words. I have a grade-A collection, but there are others here that equal it. I'm working on sharing my info with everyone here. ICFT and Jazzbass also provide a lot of information; and ICFT and Stressmaster do a great job of populating SAKwiki.  Would encourage others to get more involved. Thanks also to Def, Dunc, and nuphoria for keeping this zoo sort of focused and moving forward.  :tu: :salute: to everyone.

My Classic looks like that USA-flag translucent Classics:Flag in the middle and no shield. However, I have not seen a translucent scale variation of mine.

Also I am aware that 84mm and 91mm options are made for some countries.
Turkey has one actually :D There is a Recruit version. I will buy it sometime.

Three more pictures of the Turkish Classic are attached. Sorry for the bad quality-took them by the horrid camera of my blackberry...

I also attached the picture of the Turkish Flag Recruit to give you an idea.

I like those Turkish ones. I sort of collect the flag series Classics but I only buy them in the actual country (as a souvenir). I have been in Turkey a couple of times but could never find a Turkish flag SAK :(

Nice pics Karl! Nice to see all those variations.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

I suggest you look at these two stores called D&R and Notebook in case you come to Turkey again. They sell Victorinox, and I am pretty sure you will find one somewhere!

I've been to about half those countries, but outside the US the only ones I bought in the actual country were the Liechtenstein ones. Also picked up the translucent Swiss ones at the same gift shop.

Just found a source for Classics with Greek flags (four different colors), and they ship to the US.

There are supposedly 55 different countries from the original first Flag knife orders. Some countries have more than one color variation. You can certainly see that in Karl's collection! I have some here;

Does the Turkish SAK have a Victorinox shield on the other side Turkteen?
Since MT forum is multinational you could organize yourselves. A person could buy SAKs with his country's flag and exchange them with others that will do the same. It might be hard to find someone in Malaysia or UAE still.

No it does not have a shield on the other side. Aside from my own knife, I only saw the same formation in one of ColoSwiss' photos. They had the USA flag and they were transparent unlike mine(one blue, one red).

I found another one!

New Zealand: http://www.qualityknives.co.nz/shop/Victorinox/Swiss+Army+KnivesPocket+KnivesMulti+tools/Classic+NZ+Flag+0.6203.NZO.html

they ship internationally but you need to contact them through email to arrange shipping cost. Shipping cost is very reasonable though.
